  2. 2. The relationship between reduced renal function and cardiovascular disease

    Författare :Patrik Svensson; Kardiovaskulär forskning - hypertoni; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; eGFR; creatinine; cystatin C; CKD-EPI; CKD; CVD; Genetics; Blood Pressure; Hypertension;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the relationship between measures of renal function and cardiovascular disease (CVD) in patients with hypertension (the NORDIL study) and in the healthy population (Malmö Diet and Cancer Study, MDC) and whether antihypertensive treatment response and the risk of CVD is affected by genetic variation of a regulator of the renal amiloroide sensitive sodium channel (NORDIL). In study 1 we tested creatinine, estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) with Cockroft-Gault (CG) and the MDRD equations and also microalbuminuria (MA) as predictors of CVD, stroke and CVD death. 3. 3. Genetic predisposition to salt sensitivity and cardiovascular disease

    Författare :Jonas Dahlberg; Kardiovaskulär forskning - hypertoni; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NEDD4L; SGK-1; CVD; ischemic stroke; genetics; CVD deaths; myopcardial infarction;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract The average amount of salt ingested is about 10 grams daily compared to less than one gram in pre-historic life. Salt, althought somewhat debated, is considered a risk factor for elevated blood pressure and end organ damage beyond the blood pressure effect. LÄS MER

  4. 4. THE VASOPRESSIN SYSTEM IN DIABETES MELLITUS, OBESITY AND THE METABOLIC SYNDROME

    Författare :Sofia Enhörning; Kardiovaskulär forskning - hypertoni; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; arginine vasopressin; copeptin; prediction; epidemiology; diabetes mellitus; risk factors; abdominal obesity; obesity; metabolic syndrome; microalbuminuria; AVPR1A; AVPR1B;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Animal studies suggest that the arginine vasopressin (AVP) system plays a role in glucose and fat metabolism, but data from humans are limited. Method and results: We analysed plasma copeptin (copeptin), a stable C-terminal fragment of the AVP pro-hormone in the large, Swedish, population-based cohort Malmö Diet and Cancer Study Cardiovascular Cohort (MDC-CC, n=6103). 5. 5. Role of Proneurotensin in Cardiometabolic Diseases

    Författare :Ayesha Fawad; Kardiovaskulär forskning - hypertoni; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine and Health Sciences; Cardiometabolic disease; Obesity : complications; Diabetes; type 2; Proneurotensin; Dyslipidemia;

    Sammanfattning : The burden of cardiometabolic diseases is increasing worldwide. Early detection of high-risk individuals is essential for appropriate diagnosis, better treatment outcomes, quality of life and lower health related costs. LÄS MER
