  1. 1. High Valent Metal Oxo Complexes as Oxidation Catalysts

    Författare :Kamal Hossain; Kemisk fysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molybdenum; tungsten; Vanadium; oxygen atom transfer; epoxidation; sulfoxidation; molybdenum; tungsten; vanadium; oxygen atom transfer; epoxidation; sulfoxidation;

    Sammanfattning : A series of new dioxomolybdenum(VI) and -tungsten(VI) complexes of tripodal tetradentate and tridentate amino bis- and monophenolate ligands have been synthesized and characterized. The majority of the complexes are mononuclear, but dimeric and trimeric oxo-bridged M(VI) (M = Mo, W) were also obtained. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Risk of hepatocellular carcinoma, liver-related complications, and death in persons living with chronic hepatitis B and D

    Författare :Habiba Kamal; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection affects 257 million individuals and is a leading cause of liver-related morbidity and mortality. Hepatitis D virus (HDV) is a satellite virus, that needs HBV for packing and propagation, hence infecting only individuals with HBV infection. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Cellular responses to titanium surfaces blasted with TiO2 particles

    Författare :Kamal Mustafa; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : A major determinant of successful osseointegration of endosseous implants is the surface topography of the implant, which influences the cellular response of the surrounding tissues. This series of experimental studies investigated cellular responses to surface modifications of titanium implant material. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Studies on factors modulating glucose homeostasis in healthy and diabetic rats

    Författare :Kamal Yassin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :glucose homeostasis;

    Sammanfattning : Glucose is the most common substrate for energy metabolism. Despite the varying demands for glucose, the body needs to regulate its internal environment and maintain a constant and stable condition. Glucose homeostasis requires harmonized interaction between several tissues, achieving equilibrium between glucose output and uptake. LÄS MER

  5. 5. FtsH protease and ClpG disaggregase confer fitness advantages to the worldwide prevalent Pseudomonas aeruginosa clone C

    Författare :Shady Mansour Kamal; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an environmental bacterium and a frequent nosocomial pathogen causing a wide range of opportunistic infections, especially in immunocompromised patients. Clone C is one of the most prevalent groups of closely related strains distributed worldwide in the environment, such as in natural aquatic habitats, and the clinical settings, such as in patients with an underlying functional impairment of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator.
