21. Calcium Responses in the Renal Afferent Arteriole to Angiotensin II and Norepinephrine Stimulation
Sammanfattning : Studies were performed to investigate the influence of the vasoconstrictors angiotensin II (AII) and norepinephrine (NE) on calcium metabolism in smooth muscle cells of afferent arterioles. Fura-2 and image analysis techniques were used to evaluate calcium responses in the proximal and distal parts of afferent arterioles with attached glomeruli. LÄS MER
22. Mineral element contents in drinking water - aspects on quality and potential links to human health
Sammanfattning : Mineral elements in drinking water have been in focus for more than a decade, especially as the habit of drinking bottled water has increased, not the least among young people. Minerals in drinking water have become more important since minerals in food, especially in vegetables, have decreased substantially the last decades. LÄS MER
23. Secretory activity in isolated rat stomach ECL cells
Sammanfattning : ECL cells are endocrine/paracrine cells located in the acid-producing part of the stomach. They are important regulators of gastric acid secretion in the stomach by virtue of their histamine synthesizing and secreting capacity. Histamine in turn stimulates parietal cells to secrete acid. 24. The Growth of External Ectomycorrhizal Mycelia in the Field in Relation to Host Nutrient Status and Local Addition of Mineral Sources
Sammanfattning : A method based on ingrowth mesh bags was developed to study the production of EMM. These bags were made of nylon mesh with a mesh size of 50 mu-m, which allows colonisation by fungal mycelia but excludes the tree roots. LÄS MER
25. Regulation of the cytoskeleton and the adhesiveness of intestinal epithelial cells by leukotriene D4
Sammanfattning : Leukotrienes belong to a family of biologically active conjugated trienes that are formed from arachidonic acid via the 5-lipoxygenase pathway and are important mediators of inflammatory reactions. The CysLT1 receptor that specifically serves as receptor for leukotriene D4 (LTD4) has been identified as a G-protein coupled receptor. LÄS MER
