  1. 1. Circling the Squares : Radical Innovation and Management Control Systems in the Circular Economy

    Författare :Johan Arekrans; Sofia Ritzén; Rafael Laurenti; Johan Frishammar; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; circular economy; innovation; innovation management; sustainability; management control systems; cirkulär ekonomi; innovation; innovationsledning; hållbarhet; kontrollmekanismer; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : An economic system built upon the sale of tangible goods produced using finite resources is inherently unsustainable. The idea of a Circular Economy (CE) as a viable pathway to sustainability has gained considerable attention from academia, policymakers, and the business community. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Designing for Change in Complex Systems : Design Considerations for Uptime in a Transportation System with Driverless Vehicles

    Författare :Lina Rylander; Jonas Mårtensson; Magnus Eneberg; Josina Vink; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : The transportation system is undergoing a transformation to enable socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable transport solutions, and driverless trucks are considered one innovation that can contribute to a more sustainable and efficient transportation system. Nevertheless, introducing driverless trucks will cause disruptions in the system, and one considerable change is that the driver is no longer present. LÄS MER

  3. 3. MECHATRONIC METAPHORS : An embodied realist framework of complexity and expertise in mechatronic project work

    Författare :Elias Flening; Martin Grimheden; Anna Jerbrant; David Bradley; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : Utvecklingsprojekt inom mekatronik innehåller höga nivåer av komplexitet och kräver expertis i samma utsträckning för att hantera denna. I och med globalt minskande produktivitetsvinster från ingenjörsarbete samt ”outtrassliga” (wicked) problem i utvecklingen av mekatroniska system – med sedan länge rapporterade utmaningar så som brist på gemensam systemförståelse, avsaknad av gemensamt språk för koncept, och disparata mentala modeller – så blir det kritiskt att förstå de faktiskt gällande uppfattningar av komplexitet och kompetens inom utvecklingsprojekt. 4. 4. Ionic lubricants : Molecular features and surface protection mechanisms

    Författare :Bulat Munavirov; Sergei Glavatskih; Istvan Furo; Rob Dwyer-Joyce; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ionic liquid; lubrication technology; tribology; boundary lubrication; tribofilm; friction; wear; physico-chemical interaction; diffusion NMR; jonisk vätska; smörjteknik; tribologi; gränsskiktssmörjning; tribofilm; friktion; slitage; fysikalisk-kemisk interaktion; NMR diffusometri; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis ionic liquids (ILs) are investigated as prospective candidates for lubrication. Three custom synthesized phosphonium orthoborate type ILs were extensively studied from the prospective of molecular structuring both in bulk and at the interface and from the prospective of their lubricating performance as neat lubricants and as additives in oils. 5. 5. Adhesion and Friction - a Study on Tactility

    Författare :Kenneth Duvefelt; Ulf Olofsson; Emile Van Der Heide; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Adhesion; finger; friction; humidity; material; model; tactile friction; tactility; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Sammanfattning : Although we are surrounded by hundreds of surfaces we can still distinguish them from each other simply by touch. The tactile information, interpreted by our brain and given by our fingers, is precise, but to put words to the sensation is very difficult — is it smooth, sticky or harsh? We do not only perceive surfaces differently, we also describe them in our own way. LÄS MER
