1. Energy systems studied of biogas : Generation aspects of renewable vehicle fuels in the transport system
Sammanfattning : The transport sector is seen as particularly problematic when concerns about climate change and dependency on fossil energy are discussed. Because of this, bioenergy is strongly promoted for use in the transport sector, both on a European level and nationally in Sweden. LÄS MER
2. Non-geological hydrogen storage for fossil-free steelmaking
Sammanfattning : In the last half-century, global steel use has increased more than threefold and further growth is expected, particularly in developing economies. However, steelmaking is currently responsible for 7% of the global net carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and any substantial further optimization of existing processes that utilize fossil fuels for iron ore reduction is infeasible. 3. Energy system evaluation of thermo-chemical biofuel production : Process development by integration of power cycles and sustainable electricity
Sammanfattning : Fossil fuels dominate the world energy supply today and the transport sector is no exception. Renewable alternatives must therefore be introduced to replace fossil fuels and their emissions, without sacrificing our standard of living. LÄS MER
4. Towards sustainable urban transportation : Test, demonstration and development of fuel cell and hybrid-electric buses
Sammanfattning : Several aspects make today’s transport system non-sustainable: • Production, transport and combustion of fossil fuels lead to global and local environmental problems. • Oil dependency in the transport sector may lead to economical and political instability. LÄS MER
5. All CO2 molecules are equal, but some CO2 molecules are more equal than others
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with some challenges related to the mitigation of climate change and the overall aim is to present and assess different possibilities for the mitigation of climate change by: • Suggesting some measures with a potential to abate net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, • Discussing ideas for how decision-makers could tackle some of the encountered obstacles linked to these measures, and • Pointing at some problems with the current Kyoto framework and suggesting modifications of it. The quantification of the net CO2 effect from a specific project, frequently referred to as emissions accounting, is an important tool to evaluate projects and strategies for mitigating climate change.
