   Sammanfattning : Alzheimer s disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder pathologically characterized by neurofibrillary tangles and amyloid plaques. According to the amyloid cascade hypothesis, the increased production of beta-amyloid (Abeta), derived form the amyloid precursor protein (APP), and its aggregation into plaques are key pathological events, driving neurodegeneration in AD.
