  1. 1. Pedicled and free TRAM flaps in breast reconstructions : a comparative study

    Författare :Åsa Edsander-Nord; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :breast reconstruction; TRAM; pedicled flap; free flap; microdialysis; monitoring; flap circulation; flap metabolism; glucose; lactate; glycerol; abdominal muscles; trunk muscle strength; KIN-COM; quantitative sensory testing; tactile perception threshold; thermal perception threshold; breast volume; thermoplastic; quality of life; SF-36; esthetic evaluation; applanation tonometry;

    Sammanfattning : The transverse rectus abdominis musculocutaneous (TRAM) flap is frequently used when autologous tissue is desired for breast reconstruction, and it can be transferred pedicled or free. The pedicled TRAM flap is elevated as a lower transverse abdominal flap with the rectus abdominis muscle attached in the epigastric area, by which means the deep superior epigastric vessels nourish the flap. 2. 2. Long-term effects of growth hormone replacement in hypopituitary adults on body composition, bone mass and cardiovascular risk factors

    Författare :Mariam Elbornsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; growth hormone; growth hormone deficiency; growth hormone replacement; bone mineral density; body composition; muscle strength; elderly; cardiovascular risk factors; pituitary irradiation;

    Sammanfattning : Growth hormone (GH) deficient (GHD) adults have decreased bone mass and muscle strength, impaired body composition, disturbed serum lipid pattern and increased morbidity and mortality in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. GH replacement normalizes most of these aberrations within the first year of treatment. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Physical capacity in individuals with cerebral palsy : problems, needs and resources, with special emphasis on locomotion

    Författare :Christina Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Many individuals with cerebral palsy (CP) have difficulties in walking independently because of impaired postural control, abnormal tone and pathological muscular coordination. Walkers are often a prerequisite and are often prescribed for assisting and providing the stability necessary for ambulation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Velocity controlled dynamometry and gait analysis : development of methods and applications

    Författare :Lennart Gransberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dynamometry; torque; measurement error; overshoot; isokinetic; concentric; eccentric; gait analysis; three-dimensional; electrogoniometer; electromagnetic tracking;

    Sammanfattning : The isokinetic systems developed in the present study can measure torque in maximal voluntary and passive movements. The torque recordings may be combined with surface EMG recordings from pairs of antagonistic muscles involved in the movement. Healthy subjects and patients with spastic paresis have been examined.
