  1. 1. Innovation in an urban context

    Författare :Heidi Wiig Aslesen; Institutionen för kulturgeografi och ekonomisk geografi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Regional innovation systems; Social geography; Social sciences; Head-office-corporate-service complex; KIBS-client interaction; KIBS; Urban agglomerations; Innovation activity; Socialgeografi; Samhällsvetenskaper;

    Sammanfattning : The dissertation is based on a collection of papers addressing different aspects of regional innovation systems in an urban context. The overall aim is to find explanatory factors behind the workings of regional innovation systems in urban agglomerations by looking at the innovation dynamics and innovation outcomes of the Oslo region, and secondly, by analysing how two diverse subsets of economic activity in the Oslo region (and other urban agglomerations) are able to exploit a regional innovation system (clustered manufacturing SME's and Knowledge Intensive Business Services (KIBS). 2. 2. Knowledge intensive business services in non-core areas : Preconditions and strategies for value creation and competitiveness

    Författare :Hjalti Nielsen; Institutionen för kulturgeografi och ekonomisk geografi; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; KIBS; Tjänster; Icke-kärnområden; Perifera regioner; Agglomerationsfördelar; IKT-teknik; KIBS; Services; Non-core areas; Peripheral regions; Agglomeration advantages; ICT technologies;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge intensive business services (KIBS) play a key role in economic development. Due to the complex and collaborative nature of their value creation processes, it is conventionally argued that they depend strongly on physical proximity to large client-, and labour-markets, as well as on closeness to advanced knowledge infrastructures. 4. 4. Lignin- and PAN-based carbon fibres as negative electrodes for alkali-ion batteries

    Författare :Kevin Peuvot; Göran Lindbergh; Dan Zenkert; Enn Lust; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hard carbon; lithium-ion batteries; sodium-ion batteries; potassium-ion batteries; lignin-based carbon fibres; PAN-based carbon fibres; free-standing electrodes; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The development of sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) and potassium-ion batteries (KIBs) have accelerated since they can now reach similar gravimetric energy densities as lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) but with a lower environmental impact. Hard carbon is the most common negative electrode for SIBs and KIBs and can be made from renewable resources such as lignin. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Firm internationalization and born global firms : On the causes and consequences of export market entry

    Författare :Torbjörn Halldin; Pontus Braunerhjelm; Wim Naudé; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :categorized as future exporters show much significance on individual characteristics. However; when the sample is extended to include the total amount of new firms; we see that individual employee characteristics do matter for survival.;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis consists of four self-contained essays on the topic of small firm internationalization.
