1. Children exposed to antiepileptic drugs in utero : clinical and epidemiological aspects on growth, development and occurrence of malformations
Sammanfattning : Antiepileptic drugs (AED) are known teratogenic substances. Major congenital malformations, minor anomalies, retarded intrauterine growth and delayed psychomotor development have been reported after exposure to AED in utero. LÄS MER
2. Defining the genetics of systemic autoimmunity in mouse models of lupus
Sammanfattning : Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic multi-organ autoimmune disease considered a prototype for autoantibody and immune complex-mediated tissue injury. Although autoantibodies against a wide diversity of self-antigens are characteristically found in this disease, an important hallmark is the presence of autoantibodies to nuclear antigens. LÄS MER
3. Bioinformatics mining for disease causing mutations : using the dog genome as a model for human disease
Sammanfattning : Humans and dogs share many common diseases, and it has been shown that the identification of mutations that cause disease in dogs can help unravel the genetic basis for a similar disease in humans. Mapping of traits and disease in dogs is not a new idea, but the sequencing of the whole dog genome, the creation of a dense SNP maps followed by the development of SNP arrays for high throughput genotyping has led to new facilitated mapping procedures. 4. Unraveling the genetics of lymphocytic thyroiditis using the dog as a model
Sammanfattning : The domestic dog, with its unique genetic structure formed by domestication and recent breed creation, has been proven to be an excellent model for mapping disease genes. In this thesis, we use the dog as a model to investigate the prevalence and genetic background of canine lymphocytic thyroiditis (CLT), one of the most common immune related diseases in dogs. LÄS MER
5. (O)likhetens geografier : Marknaden, forskningen och de Andra
Sammanfattning : The dissertation examines representations and discourses of the Others in the field of immigration and labour market studies from a critical discourse analysis perspective. The theoretical discussions rely on theories of post-colonialism, racial and colonial discourse, as well as theories of nationalism, culture and identity. LÄS MER
