  1. 1. Provenance, transport, and the fate of organic matter and sediments drained through Himalayan Rivers in Nepal

    Författare :Rajendra Bhandari; Joyanto Routh; Subodh Sharma; Åsa Danielsson; Rajendra Joshi; Mead Allison; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Himalayan rivers; Biomarkers; Isotopes; OC flux; RUSLE; Himalayafloder; biomarkörer; isotoper; OC flux; RUSLE;

    Sammanfattning : Despite its small area (ca. 595,000 km2), the Himalayan region transfers disproportionally high amounts of sediments and organic matter (OM) through a network of rivers into the oceanic sink. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Environmental and climatic changes in the Baltic Sea and the eastern Mediterranean Sea : as recorded by pigments and isotopes in sediments

    Författare :Johanna Borgendahl; Rolf Hallberg; Joyanto Routh; Stefano Bernasconi; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is a study of Holocene sapropels from two semi-enclosed seas; the Baltic Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Sapropels are sedimentary layers with organic C > 2%. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Biogeochemical evidences of human intervention in a shallow lake, Zeekoevlei, South Africa

    Författare :Supriyo Das; Joyanto Routh; Michael R. Talbot; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lake; primary productivity; biomarkers; stable isotopes; trace elements; phosphorus; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; geokemi; Geochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes a multi-parameter biogeochemical investigation in a shallow hyper-eutrophic freshwater coastal lake, Zeekoevlei, in South Africa. The predominance of autochthonous algal-derived organic matter in lake sediments is indicated by low C/N, high H/C ratios and δ13Corganic values. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : An elevated level of Arsenic (As) in aquifers from India and Bangladesh affecting the human health has been widely reported since the late 1980s. The thesis aim is to investigate the present status of As contamination and biogeochemical cycling with direct role of diverse indigenous bacterial communities in As cycling in the Bengal Delta Plain (BDP) aquifers in Nadia district, West Bengal (India). 5. 5. Hydrogeochemistry of arsenic, fluoride, and other trace elements in groundwater in northern Tanzania : Occurrence, distribution, and impacts on drinking water quality

    Författare :Fanuel Josephat Ligate; Prosun Bhattacharya; Felix W Mtalo; Jyoti Prakash Maity; Joyanto Routh; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Arsenic; Fluoride; Groundwater; Lake Victoria basin; Risk assessment; Sanya alluvial plain; Tanzania.; Aseniki; Bonde la Ziwa Victoria; Floridi; Maji yaliyopo ardhini; Tanzania; Tathmini ya hatari; Uwanda wa Aluvia ya Sanya.; Arsenik; Fluorid; Grundvatten; Viktoriasjön; Riskbedömning; Sanya alluvial slätt; Tanzania.; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The occurrence of arsenic (As), fluoride (F-), and other trace elements (TEs) with potential toxicity in groundwater is a global environmental concern. According to the National water resource mapping database, about 76 % of the drinking water supply in Tanzania is abstracted from groundwater sources. LÄS MER
