21. Elastic and inelastic scattering effects in conductance measurements at the nanoscale : A theoretical treatise
Sammanfattning : Elastic and inelastic interactions are studied in tunnel junctions of a superconducting nanoelectromechanical setup and in response to resent experimental superconducting scanning tunneling microscope findings on a paramagnetic molecule. In addition, the electron density of molecular graphene is modeled by a scattering theory approach in very good agreement with experiment. LÄS MER
22. Strain and Charge Transport in InAsP-InP and InP-InAs Core-Shell Nanowires
Sammanfattning : The mechanical, optical, and electrical properties of III-V semiconductor heterostructures are investigated in thisthesis. The semiconductor materials are grown by metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy, yielding wire shaped crystals(nanowires) having a length of ~ 1 μm and diameter of ~ 100 nm. LÄS MER
23. III-V Devices for Emerging Electronic Applications
Sammanfattning : Today’s digitalized society relies on the advancement of silicon (Si) Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) technology, but the limitations of down-scaling and the rapidly increasing demand for added functionality that is not easily achieved in Si, have pushed efforts to monolithically 3D-integrate III-V devices above the Si-CMOS technology. In addition, the demand for increased computational power and handling of vast amounts of data is rapidly increasing. LÄS MER
24. Quantum Optics with Propagating Microwaves in Superconducting Circuits
Sammanfattning : We address recent advances in quantum optics with propagating microwavesin superconducting circuits. This research field exploits on the fact that the coupling between a superconducting artificial atom and propagating microwave photons in a one-dimensional (1D) open transmission line can be made strong enough to observe quantum effects, without using any cavity to confine the microwave photons. 25. Parametrically pumped superconducting circuits
Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis, I present the design, fabrication, and characterization of superconducting parametric resonators, for use in quantum information processing. These devices are quarter-wavelength coplanar waveguide resonators (~5 GHz), terminated at one end by a non-linear inductance provided by a SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device). LÄS MER
