  1. 21. Elastic and inelastic scattering effects in conductance measurements at the nanoscale : A theoretical treatise

    Författare :Peter Berggren; Jonas Fransson; Wolfgang Belzig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Scattering theory; Scanning tunneling microscopy; tunnel junctions; molecular graphene; paramagnetic molecules; spin interaction; nano electromechanical system; Josephson junction; superconductivity; chaos; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Elastic and inelastic interactions are studied in tunnel junctions of a superconducting nanoelectromechanical setup and in response to resent experimental superconducting scanning tunneling microscope findings on a paramagnetic molecule. In addition, the electron density of molecular graphene is modeled by a scattering theory approach in very good agreement with experiment. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The mechanical, optical, and electrical properties of III-V semiconductor heterostructures are investigated in thisthesis. The semiconductor materials are grown by metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy, yielding wire shaped crystals(nanowires) having a length of ~ 1 μm and diameter of ~ 100 nm. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Today’s digitalized society relies on the advancement of silicon (Si) Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) technology, but the limitations of down-scaling and the rapidly increasing demand for added functionality that is not easily achieved in Si, have pushed efforts to monolithically 3D-integrate III-V devices above the Si-CMOS technology. In addition, the demand for increased computational power and handling of vast amounts of data is rapidly increasing. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Quantum Optics with Propagating Microwaves in Superconducting Circuits

    Författare :Io Chun Hoi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transmon; second-order correlation function; qubit; microwave photons; photon router; superconducting artificial atom; Autler-Townes splitting; quantum network; SQUID; superconducting circuits; cross-Kerr effect; antibunching; Mollow triplet; Josephson junction; quantum optics;

    Sammanfattning : We address recent advances in quantum optics with propagating microwavesin superconducting circuits. This research field exploits on the fact that the coupling between a superconducting artificial atom and propagating microwave photons in a one-dimensional (1D) open transmission line can be made strong enough to observe quantum effects, without using any cavity to confine the microwave photons. 5. 25. Parametrically pumped superconducting circuits

    Författare :Philip Krantz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SQUID; circuit quantum electrodynamics; Josephson junction; Superconducting circuits; resonators; parametric oscillators; quantum bit; pumpistor; quantum information;

    Sammanfattning : In this licentiate thesis, I present the design, fabrication, and characterization of superconducting parametric resonators, for use in quantum information processing. These devices are quarter-wavelength coplanar waveguide resonators (~5 GHz), terminated at one end by a non-linear inductance provided by a SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device). LÄS MER
