6. Structure and Dynamics of Silica Dispersions and Gels
Sammanfattning : This thesis deal with the sol-gel transition of two quite different systems, both based on silica. The overall aim is to understand what interactions lead to this sol-gel transition and how the structure and dynamics change as a result of this. The first project concern the gelation of water glass, also known as alkaline sodium silicate solutions. 7. Toward Realistic Failure Evaluations for Concrete Buttress Dams
Sammanfattning : Concrete dams, complex structures supporting massive loads, have traditionally been assessed using simplified 2D analytical stability analyses based on the rigid body assumption. Previous studies have shown that 3D behavior, such as the interaction between the monoliths and the valley's geology, can greatly impact the load-bearing capacity of gravity dams but remains largely unexplored in buttress dams. 8. Essays on Energy Demand and Household Energy Choice
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four self-contained papers related to energydemand and household cooking energy.Paper [I] examine the impact of price, income and non-economicfactors on gasoline demand using a structural time series model. LÄS MER
9. Essays on Offshoring, Labor Demand and Hypothetical Bias in Choice Experiments
Sammanfattning : This dissertation consists of four papers on offshoring, labor demand and hypothetical bias in travel-time stated choice experiments. They are summarized as follows. LÄS MER
10. Chloride transport and reinforcement corrosion in the vicinity of the transition zone between substrate and repair concrete
Sammanfattning : One of the major degradation problems in concrete structures is chloride initiated reinforcement corrosion resulting in cracked, spalled and delaminated concrete. Thesedamages are repaired for large amounts of money and because of high repair costs it is important to perform durable repairs. LÄS MER
