  1. 11. Rationality in inquiry : on the revisability of cognitive standards

    Författare :Jonas Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; rationality; fallibilism; revisability; ultimate justification; relativism; bootstrap rationality; cognitive goals; Laudan; Briskman; Worrall; Hauptli; Apel; Theoretical philosophy; Teoretisk filosofi;

    Sammanfattning : The topic of this study is to what extent standards of rational inquiry can be rationally criticized and revised. It is argued that it is rational to treat all such standards as open to criticism and revision.Arguments to the effect that we are fallible with regard to all standards of rational inquiry are presented. 3. 13. The LRIG-family: identification of novel regulators of ErbB signaling with clinical implications in astrocytoma

    Författare :Jonas Nilsson; Håkan Hedman; Roger Henriksson; Maria Sibilia; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; astrocytic tumors; EGFR; ErbB; glioblastoma multiforme; LRIG; negative regulation.; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Astrocytic tumors are the most common malignancies of the central nervous system, accounting for more than 60% of all primary brain tumors. The prognosis for high grade astrocytoma patients is dismal and there is no curative treatment, today. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Cooperative Reactive Sites in Designed Helix-Loop-Helix Polypeptide Catalysts

    Författare :Jonas W. Nilsson; Paolo Scrimin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Designed polypeptides, which fold into helix-loop-helix motifs and dimerise to four-helix bundles have been used as scaffolds for the introduction of catalytic activity for the hydrolysis of p-nitrophenyl esters. The reactive sites were based on the reactivity of histidine, and two His residues separated by four residues in the sequence was shown to be the minimal reactive site for the efficient hydrolysis of nitrophenyl esters. 5. 15. Complement Activation Triggered by Biomaterial Surfaces : Mechanisms and Regulation

    Författare :Jonas Andersson; Bo Nilsson; Hans Elwing; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; Biomaterials; Biocompatibility; Blood; Complement; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi; klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Today there are a vast number of medical devices in temporary or permanent contact with human tissues. Blood-biomaterial contact is known to trigger the complement system and results in generation of fluid phase anaphylatoxins C3a and C5a, and surface-bound C3b and iC3b. LÄS MER
