21. Postoperative pain, inflammation and functional recovery after total hip arthroplasty : Prospective, randomized, clinical studies
Sammanfattning : Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is performed in patients with osteoarthritis of the hip joint. Pain following THA is often moderate but no gold stand-ard exists for pain management. Good postoperative pain management may lead to a better quality of life and hip function. LÄS MER
22. Norrbottnian congenital insensitivity to pain
Sammanfattning : Congenital insensitivity to pain is a rare hereditary neuropathy. We present patients from a large family in Norrbotten, Sweden with a mutation in the nerve growth factor β gene (NGFß). Using a model of recessive inheritance, we identified an 8.3-Mb region on chromosome 1p11. LÄS MER
23. On costochondral grafts replacing mandibular condyles in juvenile chronic arthritis. A clinical, histological and experimental study
Sammanfattning : In children with juvenile chronic arthritis (JCA), disturbances of mandibular growth and function may result in involvement of the temporomandibular joints (TMJs). The aim of this thesis was to study the stomatognathic system in JCA children and long-term effects on facial growth of treatment comprising replacement of arthritic mandibular condyles with autogenous costochondral grafts (CCGs) during growth. 24. Trochanteric Hip Fractures Clinical Outcomes and the Cut-out Complication
Sammanfattning : The established treatment for trochanteric hip fractures is internal fixation, either intramedullary (nail) or extramedullary (plate). Approximately 10% of these patients suffer from mechanical complications, the most frequent one being perforation of the lag screw through the femoral head into the hip joint (cut-out). LÄS MER
25. Chondrocytes Differentiation- Biological and Biomaterial Perspectives
Sammanfattning : Articular cartilage is an avascular tissue and once injured it does not heal spontaneously. A successful tissue engineering approach for cartilage reconstruction is autolougus chondrocyte implantation (ACI). LÄS MER
