11. Twisted Loops and Models for Form-factors and the Muon g-2
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we use effective field thory methods and models for low energy QCD in two different contexts. One is direct calculation of contributions to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, muon g-2. The other is estimates of systematic sources of uncertainty in lattice QCD simulations. The work is presented in five papers. LÄS MER
12. The prey perspective - behaviour and appearance in a world of predators
Sammanfattning : The varieties of prey phenotypes that have been revealed in nature are vast and many of these phenotypes are the result of the selective force that predators have had on prey traits in the past. Even within species and populations we see variations due to both differences in the selection forces they live under but also due to individual trait variation. LÄS MER
14. Formic and Levulinic Acid from Cellulose via Heterogeneous Catalysis
Sammanfattning : The chemical industry of today is under increased pressure to develop novel green materials, bio-fuels as well as sustainable chemicals for the chemical industry. Indeed, the endeavour is to move towards more eco-friendly cost efficient production processes and technologies and chemical transformation of renewables has a central role considering the future sustainable supply of chemicals and energy needed for societies. 15. Calcium Carbonate Precipitation in Presence of Carboxylic Acids
Sammanfattning : With a metal removal process based on precipitation aimed atthe purification of pulping effluent as a starting point, theinfluence of carboxylic acids on calcium carbonateprecipitation has been studied. The chosen carboxylic acids canact as more or less strong complexing agents for aqueouscalcium, just as many compounds found in pulping liquors. LÄS MER
