    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four research papers presenting a microdata analysis approach to assess and evaluate the Parkinson’s disease (PD) motor symptoms using smartphone-based systems. PD is a progressive neurological disorder that is characterized by motor symptoms. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Predicting clinical outcomes via machine learning on electronic health records

    Författare :Awais Ashfaq; Sławomir Nowaczyk; Jerker Westin; Högskolan i Halmstad; []

    Sammanfattning : The rising complexity in healthcare, exacerbated by an ageing population, results in ineffective decision-making leading to detrimental effects on care quality and escalates care costs. Consequently, there is a need for smart decision support systems that can empower clinician's to make better informed care decisions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. First-principle data-driven models for assessment of motor disorders in Parkinson’s disease

    Författare :Taha Khan; Peter Funk; Mark Dougherty; Jerker Westin; Shahina Begum; Gunnar Klein; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Nyckelord :Computer Science; datavetenskap; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Sammanfattning : Parkinson’s disease (PD) is an increasing neurological disorder in an aging society. The motor and non-motor symptoms of PD advance with the disease progression and occur in varying frequency and duration. In order to affirm the full extent of a patient’s condition, repeated assessments are necessary to adjust medical prescription. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : A challenge for the clinical management of Parkinson's disease (PD) is the large within- and between-patient variability in symptom profiles as well as the emergence of motor complications which represent a significant source of disability in patients. This thesis deals with the development and evaluation of methods and systems for supporting the management of PD by using repeated measures, consisting of subjective assessments of symptoms and objective assessments of motor function through fine motor tests (spirography and tapping), collected by means of a telemetry touch screen device.
