  1. 6. On the Development of Mucin-based Biomaterial Coatings

    Författare :Tomas Sandberg; Karin Caldwell; Jan Carlsson; Thomas Arnebrant; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mucin; Biomaterial; Surface-exposed protein; XPS; Neutrophil; Cell morphology; SEM; QCM-D; Viscoelasticity; Protein-stabilization; HNL; Coating; MG1; BSM; PGM; SEC-MALS-RI; Mucin quantification; Protein adsorption; Ellipsometry; Biomaterials; Biomaterial;

    Sammanfattning : Owing to their key role in mucosal functioning as surface barriers with biospecific interaction potentials, the mucins are interesting candidates for use as surface modifiers in biomaterials applications. In this work, “mild” fractionation procedures were used to prepare mucins of bovine (BSM), porcine (PGM), and human (MG1) origin. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Numerical Modelling of Timber Building Components to Prevent Disproportionate Collapse

    Författare :Johannes A. J. Huber; Sven Berg; Dick Sandberg; Mats Ekevad; Ulf Arne Girhammar; Jan-Willem G. van de Kuilen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; finite element modelling; alternative load paths; cross laminated timber; progressive collapse; CT scanning; fibre reconstruction; image analysis; Träteknik; Wood Science and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : An increasing number of multi-storey buildings are being constructed with engineered wood products, such as glulam or cross-laminated timber (CLT). Multi-storey timber buildings can be safely designed for foreseeable loads, but knowledge is limited concerning their ability to survive unforeseeable events, e.g. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Locating Inter-Scandinavian Silent Film Culture : Connections, Contentions, Configurations

    Författare :Anne Bachmann; Jan Olsson; Mark Sandberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; film history; silent film; Scandinavia; transnational film; film discourse; location; censorship; film adaptation; Cinema Studies; filmvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis revisits film and film-culture history in Sweden, Denmark and Norway with a view to discourses and practices of the inter- and trans-Scandinavian in the silent era. Excluding the earliest films, but including the transition to synchronised sound, it covers the period of the 1900s to 1930 with emphasis on the 1910s and 1920s. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Pedagogiska möjligheter i mångfaldens förskola

    Författare :Åsa Delblanc; Jan Håkansson; Helena Ackesjö; Anette Sandberg; Linnéuniversitetet; []

    Sammanfattning : I denna sammanläggningsavhandling diskuteras tre olika delstudier som alla utgåttf rån förskolepraktik i förskolor som kännetecknas av en mångfald av språk och erfarenheter. Delstudie 1 fokuserar på barns kommunikation i en flerspråkig förskolemiljö och vad som kan hindra eller möjliggöra den. LÄS MER

  5. 10. The Nucleosome as a Signal Carrying Unit : From Experimental Data to Combinatorial Models of Transcriptional Control

    Författare :Stefan Enroth; Jan Komorowski; Claes Wadelius; Rickard Sandberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Next generation sequencing; Nucleosome; Histone modification; Transcriptional regulation; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik; Bioinformatik; Bioinformatics;

    Sammanfattning : The human genome consists of over 3 billion nucleotides and would be around 2 meters long if uncoiled and laid out. Each human somatic cell contains all this in their nucleus which is only around 5 µm across. This extreme compaction is largely achieved by wrapping the DNA around a histone octamer, the nucleosome.
