    Sammanfattning : As a result of the deregulation of the Swedish railway market, the differentfunctions involved during the life cycle of railway products have been spreadout over different actors. The trigger for the work presented in this thesis wasthe insight that, since function-specific knowledge of the railway in Swedenbelongs to different organizations, special efforts would be needed to achieve aholistic picture of a railway product during the conceptual design phase.     Sammanfattning : This dissertation examines how perceptions of competence affect the care of older persons, and the values ​​and vocational conceptions of care work and care recipients that are tied to the perceptions of what skills that are needed and why. Competence is defined by three parts with relevance for the content of care work: what knowledge the care workers should have, what tasks they should perform and how they should respond to care recipients.     Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to explore how young adults from ethnic minority backgrounds experience social citizenship and social participation. How do they understand their social rights and duties? What are the possibilities and obstacles for their social participation? Based on the background of different studies in Sweden, that usually focus on conditions in bigger cities, this study discusses social citizenship among ethnic minority youth in the context of a middle-sized Swedish town.
