16. Cerebral blood flow distribution, collateral function and pulsatility in healthy and in patients with symptomatic carotid stenosis : a magnetic resonance imaging approach
Sammanfattning : Background: For the detection and treatment of early cerebral vascular disease it is of paramount importance to first understand the normal physiology of the cerebral vasculature, and subsequently, to understand how and when pathology can develop from that. This is especially important as the population above 65 years of age is increasing and aging itself is an established risk factor for the development of cerebral vascular disease. LÄS MER
17. On the behaviour of tailings dams : Management in cold regions
Sammanfattning : Associated to mining activities there is mine waste generated. The residues left over from mineralextraction processes are referred to as tailings, normally stored in surface tailings facilities. Thefacilities are usually confined by embankment dams, so called tailings dams. LÄS MER
18. Anchorage in Concrete Structures : Numerical and Experimental Evaluations of Load-Carrying Capacity of Cast-in-Place Headed Anchors and Post-Installed Adhesive Anchors
Sammanfattning : Various anchorage systems including both cast-in-place and post-installed anchors have been developed for fastening both non-structural and structural components to concrete structures. The need for increased flexibility in the design of new structures and strengthening of existing concrete structures has led to increased use of various metallic anchors in practice. LÄS MER
19. Urbanization as Socionatures' Reproduction: from Territories of Extraction
Sammanfattning : Through an engagement with the strand of critical urban theory, this dissertation brings the reworkings of Henri Lefebvre’s notion of ‘planetary urbanisation’ into a new synthesis with further inputs from urban political ecology and feminism—towards developing an ecofeminist lens to urbanization. Guided by the hypothesis “urbanization has been historically sustained through the patriarchal domination of women and nature’s reproduction,” the thesis seeks to critically explore how urbanization processes have historically and multiscalarly recurrently transformed the spatial configurations of reproduction from territories of extraction. 20. Effects of confinement and initiation delay on fragmentation and waste rock compaction : Results from small scale tests
Sammanfattning : Sub-level caving (SLC) is classified as a mass mining method and there is an increasing interest in its application worldwide and in a very wide range of geotechnical environments. Design of sub-level blasting rounds and optimization has become more important now when the sizes of the blasting rings have become larger. LÄS MER
