  1. 1. Are we using antibiotics responsibly? Assessing antibiotic use in rural Shandong province, China

    Författare :Oliver James Dyar; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Community;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Tackling the misuse and overuse of antibiotics is critical both for global sustainable development and for reducing social inequalities in the world. The World Health Organisation Global Action Plan on antimicrobial resistance calls on all Member States to develop multi-sectoral National Action Plans and to “monitor and promote optimization of antimicrobial use at national and local levels”. Sammanfattning : In the last decades, there has been a substantial increase in the development of complex active safety systems for automotive vehicles. These systems need to be tested for verification and validation to ensure that the system intervenes in the correct situations using the correct measures. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Stress response and virulence in Vibrio anguillarum

    Författare :Barbara Weber; Debra L. Milton; James D. Oliver; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Vibrio anguillarum; quorum sensing; Type VI secretion; stress response; virulence; skin colonization; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Bacteria use quorum sensing, a cell to cell signaling mechanism mediated by small molecules that are produced by specific signal molecule synthases, to regulate gene expression in response to population density. In Vibrio anguillarum, the quorum-sensing phosphorelay channels information from three hybrid sensor kinases VanN, VanQ, CqsS that sense signal molecules produced by the synthases VanM, VanS and CqsA, onto the phosphotransferase VanU, to regulate activity of the response regulator VanO.
