  1. 6. Influence of The Education and Training of Prehospital Medical Crews on Measures of Performance and Patient Outcomes

    Författare :Hans Blomberg; Rolf Gedeborg; Jakob Johansson; Karl Michaelsson; Eldar Søreide; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ambulance; prehospital; education; CPR; stroke; trauma; outcome;

    Sammanfattning : Prehospital care has developed dramatically the last decades with the implementation of new devices and educational concepts. Clinical decisions and treatments have moved out from the hospitals to the prehospital setting. In Sweden this has been accompanied by an increase in the level of competence, i.e. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Heparin-binding protein and organ failure in critical illness

    Författare :Jonas Tydén; Joakim Johansson; Magnus Hultin; Jakob Walldén; Sören Berg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Heparin-binding protein; Critical care; Shock; Acute respiratory distress syndrome; Acute kidney injury; Ventilator induced lung injury; Renal clearance; Anaesthesiology; anestesiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: For patients severely ill enough to require care in an intensive care unit (ICU), both the disease itself (e.g. bacteria in the blood in sepsis or fractures after trauma) and effects of the immune system can cause circulatory, pulmonary, or renal dysfunction. Leukocytes play a dominant role in the immune system. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Short- and long-term consequences of sport-related concussion

    Författare :Fredrik Vedung; Niklas Marklund; Gunnar Antoni; Elna-Marie Larsson; Jakob Johansson; Alexander Olsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sport-related concussion; Soccer; Traumatic brain injury; tau; neuroinflammation; cerebral blood flow; Neurokirurgi; Neurosurgery;

    Sammanfattning : Concussions are common in contact sports. Symptoms such as confusion and/or loss of consciousness following an impact to the head indicate that a sport-related concussion (SRC) has occurred. The symptoms normally resolve within 10-14 days following an SRC in adults although at least 10 % of athletes suffer from prolonged symptoms. LÄS MER

  4. 9. The Lure of Origins : An Inquiry into Human-Environmental Relations, Focused on the ”Neolithization” of Sweden

    Författare :Per Johansson; Humanekologi; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Neolithization; Origins research; Organism concept; Artifact concept; Person concept; Ecological relations; Human-environment relations; Human ecology; Umwelt concept; Symbolism; Archaeology; Tim Ingold; Early Neolithic in Sweden; Cultural anthropology; ethnology; Arkeologi; Kulturantropologi; etnologi;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this dissertation is to contribute to the discussion of the deeper meaning, in our contemporary context, of the ”neolithization” of Sweden. The basis for the investigation is twofold: * a critical examination of recent research reports dealing mostly with the Early Neolithic of (Middle) Sweden which shows, inter alia, that ”agriculture” was of marginal importance for a very long time from about 4000 BC onwards, while, at the same time, the idea of ”the transition to farming” dominates discourse. 5. 10. Luminescent molecular recognition of pathognomonic and aging associated protein aggregates

    Författare :Daniel Sjölander; Per Hammarström; Peter Nilsson; Uno Carlsson; Jan Johansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Various protein inclusions have been recognized to be associated with aging and pathogenic conditions, such as in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Type 2 diabetes, and the prionoses Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, Chronic wasting disease (CWD), and Mad cow disease. The causative transition of protein aggregation is the alteration in the conformation of the protein that renders the protein susceptible towards self-assembly. LÄS MER
