1. Potential New Drugs in Lymphoma
Sammanfattning : Lymphomas are malignant tumours arising from cells in the lymphatic system. They are classified as B-cell lymphomas, T-cell lymphomas and Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). Of the B-cell lymphomas, one of the most common is diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). LÄS MER
2. Preclinical Studies of the Melphalan Prodrug J1 for Cancer Therapy
Sammanfattning : J1 (L-melphalanyl-L-p-fluorophenylalanyl ethyl ester) is a dipeptide derivative of the alkylating agent melphalan with increased cytotoxicity. In this thesis the preclinical pharmacology of J1 has been characterized. Our results show that J1 rapidly enters the cells, where melphalan is released by hydrolysis. LÄS MER
3. Post-transcriptional regulation by RNases in Streptococcus pyogenes
Sammanfattning : Ribonucleases (RNases) are proteins that adjust cellular RNA levels by processing RNA transcripts, leading to their stabilization or degradation. RNases are grouped based on their ability to cleave the transcript internally (endoRNases) or degrade the transcript starting from the ends (exoRNases). LÄS MER
4. Analysis of effector pathways in arthritis
Sammanfattning : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a multifactorial, polygenic autoimmune disease. For effective treatment and control of RA, understanding of disease pathways and identification of genes involved are essential. Animal models are efficient tools to identify such pathogenic mechanisms and genes underlying the disease process. LÄS MER
5. Factors influencing the turnover of olfactory receptor neurons
Sammanfattning : The olfactory system has a striking capacity for neuronal plasticity throughout life and the olfactory epithelium is able to generate both neuronal and non-neuronal cells in the normal adult animal as well as after experimental injury. In contrast to primary sensory neurons, olfactory axons are able to cross the border between the PNS and CNS in the olfactory bulb after transection in the adult animal. LÄS MER
