1. Recognition and signaling of DNA double-strand breaks in human cells
Sammanfattning : DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) are the most toxic type of DNA damage. Fortunately, our cells have highly conserved pathways that detect and repair DSBs. Defects in DSB signaling and DSB repair pathways result in genomic instability that predisposes for cancer development. LÄS MER
2. Early trauma/dysmorphogenesis and adult neurodysfunction in schizophrenia
Sammanfattning : To measure the importance of early neurodevelopmental disturbance for schizophrenia, early trauma and dysmorphogenesis (i.e. obstetric complications (OCs), minor physical anomalies (MPAs), head circumference (HC) and dermatoglyphic characteristics) were studied in relationship to adult neurodysfunction (i.e. LÄS MER
3. Distributed File System Metadata and its Applications
Sammanfattning : Distributed hierarchical file systems typically decouple the storage and serving of the file metadata from the file contents (file system blocks) to enable the file system to scale to store more data and support higher throughput. We designed HopsFS to take the scalability of the file system one step further by also decoupling the storage and serving of the file system metadata. LÄS MER
4. Agriculture, climate change, and adaptation in Morocco : A computable general equilibrium analysis
Sammanfattning : The empirical analysis in this dissertation comprises two essays investigating the impacts of climate change on agriculture in Morocco, with an emphasis on climate uncertainty and robust adaptation.^ The first essay in Chapter 4 provides estimates of economic impacts of climate change, and estimates on the extent to which the current Moroccan agricultural development and investment strategy, the Plan Maroc Vert (PMV), could help in agricultural adaptation to climate change and uncertainty. 5. Childhood Sexual Abuse Against Girls in Sub-Saharan Africa : Individual and Contextual Risk Factors
Sammanfattning : Background and objectives: Childhood sexual abuse (CSA) is a substantial public health and human rights problem, as well as a growing concern in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). It has both short and long term effects on girls: physical and psychological, including negative sexual outcomes. LÄS MER
