11. Syntactic Variation in the Swedish of Adolescents in Multilingual Urban Settings : Subject-verb Order in Declaratives, Questions and Subordinate Clauses
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the use of word order variation, in particular the variable use of subject-verb inversion and non-inversion in main declarative clauses, among adolescents in contemporary multilingual settings in Sweden. The use of non-inversion in contexts that in standard Swedish require inversion is sometimes claimed to be characteristic of varieties of Swedish spoken among adolescents in multilingual urban areas. 12. Structural genomic variation in human disease
Sammanfattning : Structural variants (SVs) are physical changes in the structure of chromosomes and include both unbalanced copy number variants (CNVs) and balanced events (translocations, inversions and insertions). Many SVs constitute benign background variation and are found frequently in healthy individuals. LÄS MER
13. A Neural Network Technique for Retrieving Atmospheric Species from Microwave Limb Sounders
Sammanfattning : Atmospheric radiometry requires solving an inversion problem due to the indirect nature of the measurements. Traditional iterative methods for non-linear inversions are computationally intensive and faster algorithms are desirable. LÄS MER
14. Improvement and Assessment of Two-Dimensional Resistivity Models Derived from Radiomagnetotelluric and Direct-Current Resistivity Data
Sammanfattning : Two-dimensional (2-D) models of electrical resistivity are improved by jointly inverting radiomagnetotelluric (RMT) and direct-current resistivity (DCR) data or by allowing for displacement currents in the inversion of RMT data collected on highly resistive bedrock. Uniqueness and stability of the 2-D models are assessed with a model variance and resolution analysis that allows for the non-linearity of the inverse problem. LÄS MER
15. Causes and Consequences of Early-life Conditions : Alcohol, Pollution and Parental Leave Policies
Sammanfattning : Essay I: This paper studies the effect of air pollution on infant health in Sweden. Combining register panel data on birth outcomes and family characteristics with pollution data, I estimate the effect of particulate matter (PM10) on several birth outcomes that previously have been shown to be predictive of future outcomes.
