  1. 6. The role of Smad7 and TRAF6 in Prostate Cancer Cell Invasion, Migration and Survival

    Författare :Maria Ekman; Marene Landström; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Jonas Fuxe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TGF-beta; cell migration; invasion; apoptosis; Smad7; APC; ATM; TRAF6; p53; PC3U; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Transforming growth factor (TGF) β is a tumor suppressor during early tumor development, by inhibiting proliferation and inducing apoptosis. At later stages of cancer, it becomes a tumor promoter, and promotes tumor cell migration and invasion. TGFβ signals via its type II and type I receptors to several downstream signaling pathways. 2. 7. Inhibition of WNT5A Signaling and Function in Malignant Melanoma

    Författare :Rickard Linnskog; Malmö Experimentell cancerforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; WNT5A; Malignant Melanoma; Migration; Invasion; TGFβ; IL-6; p38-MAPK;

    Sammanfattning : The life-threatening disease of malignant melanoma is one of the fastest growing forms of cancer, affecting an estimated number of 200,000 patients worldwide every year. Although highly curable if detected early, once the melanoma has metastasized there are few treatment options and a median survival rate of only 6-9 months. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Climate Change, Dengue and Aedes Mosquitoes : Past Trends and Future Scenarios

    Författare :Jing Liu-Helmersson; Joacim Rocklöv; Åke Brännström; Eduardo Massad; Richard Paul; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dengue; mathematical modelling; vectorial capacity; DTR; Aedes aegypti; Aedes albopictus; climate change; Europe; vector invasion; abundance; dengue; matematisk modellering; vektorkapacitet; DTR; Aedes aegypti; Aedes albopictus; klimatförändring; Europa; vektor invasion; epidemiologi; Epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background Climate change, global travel and trade have facilitated the spread of Aedes mosquitoes and have consequently enabled the diseases they transmit (dengue fever, Chikungunya, Zika and yellow fever) to emerge and re-emerge in uninfected areas. Large dengue outbreaks occurred in Athens in 1927 and in Portuguese island, Madeira in 2012, but there are almost no recent reports of Aedes aegypti, the principal vector, in Europe. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Transcriptional and Epigenetic Regulation of Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition

    Författare :E-Jean Tan; Aristidis Moustakas; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Geert Berx; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TGFβ; EMT; HMGA2; Snail; Twist; E-cadherin; epigenetics; invasion; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : The transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ) is a cytokine that regulates a plethora of cellular processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, migration and apoptosis. TGFβ signals via serine/threonine kinase receptors and activates the Smads to regulate gene expression. LÄS MER

  5. 10. TRAF6, a key regulator of TGFβ-induced oncogenesis in prostate cancer

    Författare :Reshma Sundar; Marene Landström; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Petra Knaus; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with the incidence rapidly increasing in Europe over the past two decades. Reliable biomarkers for prostate cancer are currently unavailable. Thus, there is an urgent need for improved biomarkers to diagnose prostate cancer at an early stage and to determine the best treatment options. LÄS MER
