  1. 6. Genetic variation, polyploidy and hybridization in Scandinavian Anthericum ramosum and A. liliago (Anthericaceae)

    Författare :Gabrielle Rosquist; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systematic botany; inbreeding depression; gene flow; introgression; hybridization; morphology; isozyme; allozyme; allele frequencies; population fragmentation; genetic diversity; geographic variation; Anthericum; Allopolyploidy; taxonomy; phytogeography; chemotaxonomy. Physiology of nonvascular plants; Systematisk botanik; taxonomi; morfologi; kemotaxonomi. Växters fysiologi inte kärlväxter .;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I investigate the differences in breeding system, levels of genetic variation and hierarchical structure of genetic diversity between Anthericum ramosum and A. liliago. The two species differ in ploidy level and flowering time, but have similar habitat preferences, reproductive biology and geographic distributions in Scandinavia. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Understanding the adaptive capacity of the bumblebee Bombus terrestris across native and novel environments

    Författare :Cecilia Hjort; Biodiversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bumblebees; Bombus terrestris; Pollination; Introgression; Single nucleotide polymorphisms; Whole Genome Sequencing; Landscape simplification; Gene flow; Morphology; Environmental variation; Invasion; Local adaptation; Island;

    Sammanfattning : Anthropogenic stressors such as agricultural intensification, climate change, andincreased densities of non-native managed bees used for crop pollination arecontributing to bee declines. Understanding how and why bees have responded topast environmental changes is crucial for predicting future ones and enablingmitigation to maintain the functioning of both natural and agricultural ecosystems. 3. 8. Systematics, phylogeography and multiple origins of morphs in two species complexes belonging to Cistaceae, Helianthemum oelandicum and H. nummularium

    Författare :Eman Soubani; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; introgression; parallel evolution; postglacial migration; genetic polymorphism; Pleistocene; morphometry; H. nummularium; Helianthemum oelandicum; cpDNA;

    Sammanfattning : The Helianthemum oelandicum complex shows considerable morphological variation across its geographic distribution in Europe and western Asia. By combining four primer pairs and four restriction enzymes I identified nine cpDNA haplotypes with distinct geographical distributions. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Hybrid zones and speciation – insights from the European crow hybrid zone

    Författare :Fredrik Haas; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microsatellites; mc1r; introgression; hybrid zone; speciation; European crow; Corvus corone; habitat preferences; neural network; sexual imprinting; assortative mating;

    Sammanfattning : In hybrid zones genetically differentiated populations meet and interbreed. As they result from ongoing divergence and potential speciation, such zones provide opportunities to study how different factors affect this process. The hybrid zone between the all black carrion crow (Corvus corone corone) and the grey and black hooded crow (Corvus c. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Genetic variation, clonal diversity and breeding system in sedges (Carex)

    Författare :Olle Jonsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Systematic botany; Carex ericetorum; Carex caryophyllea; Carex bigelowii; Carex arenaria; phenology; niche; genet identification; clone size; isozyme; gene flow; introgression; allozyme; gene diversity; population genetics; taxonomy; morphology; phytogeography; chemotaxonomy. Physiology of nonvascular plants; Systematisk botanik; taxonomi; morfologi; kemotaxonomi. Växters fysiologi inte kärlväxter .;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I investigate genetic variation in clonal plants within the wind-pollinated plant family Cyperaceae and, in particular, in species of Carex. Clonal diversity and the spatial distribution of clones (genets) within populations was investigated in Carex bigelowii (in Iceland and Scandinavia) and C. LÄS MER
