  1. 1. Studies of Voltage Losses in Organic Solar Cells

    Författare :Deping Qian; Fengling Zhang; Feng Gao; Olle Inganäs; Natalie Stingelin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices based on semiconducting polymers and small molecules are potential alternatives to inorganic solar cells, owing to their advantages of being inexpensive, lightweight, flexible and suitable for roll-to-roll production. The state of art organic solar cells (OSCs) performed power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) over 13%. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On the Experimental Determination of Damping of Metals and Calculation of Thermal Stresses in Solidifying Shells

    Författare :Jonas Åberg; Hasse Fredriksson; Björn Widell; Michael Vynnycky; Toshihiko Emi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; material damping; measurement methods; calorimetric methods; optical strain gauge measurements; hot cracking; stress in solid shells; ALE; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores experimentally and theoretically two different aspects of the properties and behaviour of metals: their ability to damp noise and their susceptibility to crack when solidifying. The first part concerns intrinsic material damping, and is motivated by increased demands from society for reductions in noise emissions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Optimization of resonant all-dielectric nanoparticles for optical manipulation and light management

    Författare :Nils Odebo Länk; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FDTD; Nanophotonics; Metasurfaces; Optical Forces; All-dielectric; Perfect Absorption; Silicon;

    Sammanfattning : The resonant interaction between light and matter lies at the heart of nanophotonics research. In particular, nanoparticles that possess optical resonances in the visible spectral range have been avidly studied and employed for various technical and biological applications in the last two decades. 4. 4. Superinductance and fluctuating two-level systems: Loss and noise in disordered and non-disordered superconducting quantum devices

    Författare :David Niepce; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Disordered Superconductors; Nanowire; Superinductor; Quantum information; Superconducting circuits; Superinductance; TLS; Two-level Systems;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we first demonstrate that a disordered superconductor with high kinetic inductance can realise a microwave low-loss, non-dissipative circuit element with impedance greater than the quantum resistance. This element, known as a superinductor, can suppress the fluctuations of charge in a quantum circuit. LÄS MER

  5. 5. From Macroscopic to Microscopic Dynamics of Superconducting Cavities

    Författare :Anirban Bhattacharyya; Vitaliy Goryashko; Volker Ziemann; Roger Ruber; Jean Delayen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; superconducting cavity; superconductivity; self-excited loop; Ginzburg-landau; vortex; optimization; quality factor; microwave; Fysik med inriktning mot elementarpartikelfysik; Physics with specialization in Elementary Particle Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Superconducting (SC) radio frequency (RF) cavities are at the heart of many large-scale particle accelerators such as the European Spallation Source (ESS), the X-ray Free Electron Laser (XFEL), the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS)-II and the proposed International Linear Collider (ILC). The SC cavities are essentially resonant structures with very high intrinsic quality factors (Q0) of the order of 1010. LÄS MER
