  1. 1. Neuroinflammation and pain

    Författare :Linda Block; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neuroinflammation; Pain; Persistant pain; Astrocytes; Morphine; Naloxone; Intrathecal administration;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Background: Persistent pain that remains long after the physiological trigger has been resolved is a disabling condition. A possible mechanism for the transition from acute physiological pain to persistent pain involves low-grade inflammation in the central nervous system, in which inflammatory-activated astrocytes play a significant role. Sammanfattning : Selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) is an effective operations method that successfully decreased the degree of spasticity with long lasting beneficial effects for children with spastic diplegia. Children undergoing SDR are postoperatively in severe pain, a pain related to both the extensive surgical exposure with multilevel laminotomy and the nerve root manipulation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Local infiltration analgesia in knee arthroplasty

    Författare :Per Essving; Kjell Axelsson; Lars Weidenhielm; Örebro universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Local infiltration analgesia (LIA) is a new technique for postoperative pain management following knee arthroplasty. LIA involves a long-acting local anesthetic (ropivacaine), a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug (ketorolac) and epinephrine infiltrated into the knee joint during surgery and injected postoperatively via a catheter. 4. 4. Postoperative pain, inflammation and functional recovery after total hip arthroplasty : Prospective, randomized, clinical studies

    Författare :Jan Kuchalik; Anil Gupta; Anders Lundin; Mats Enlund; Örebro universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is performed in patients with osteoarthritis of the hip joint. Pain following THA is often moderate but no gold stand-ard exists for pain management. Good postoperative pain management may lead to a better quality of life and hip function. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pain relief during labour and following obstetric and gynaecological surgery with special reference to neuroaxial morphine

    Författare :Anette Hein; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Pain is a major clinical problem during childbirth and postoperatively after caesarean section (CS) and hysterectomy. There are several reasons why pain should be minimized; pain is indeed a negative sensation, it affects the birth-experience and the entire post-operative recovery, with reduced wellbeing and extended time in hospital.
