  1. 16. Turbulence Descriptors in Arterial Flows : Patient-Specific Computational Hemodynamics

    Författare :Magnus Andersson; Matts Karlsson; Jonas Lantz; Tino Ebbers; Kristian Valen-Sendstad; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : At this very moment, there are literally millions of people who suffer from various types of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), many of whom will experience reduced quality of life or premature lift expectancy. The detailed underlying pathogenic processes behind many of these disorders are not well understood, but were abnormal dynamics of the blood flow (hemodynamics) are believed to play an important role, especially atypical flow-mediated frictional forces on the intraluminal wall (i. 2. 17. Regulation of the myogenic response and stretch-induced calcium signaling in the vascular wall: Novel insights into the role of microRNAs and protein tyrosine kinase 2

    Författare :Anirban Bhattachariya; Kärlfysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; portal vein; resistance artery; myogenic tone; PYK2; calcium; microRNA;

    Sammanfattning : Intraluminal pressure has a significant impact on vascular adaptability, phenotype and regulation of blood flow and pressure. On one hand, increased pressure/stretch for a prolonged time can cause structural changes in vessel wall; on the other hand, lack of pressure/stretch can promote a phenotype shift. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Intra-abdominal Hypertension and Colonic Hypoperfusion after Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair

    Författare :Khatereh Djavani Gidlund; Martin Björck; Anders Wanhainen; Johan Valtysson; Martin Malina; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Abdominal aneurysm; Intra-abdomnial hypertension; Abdominal compartment syndrome; Colonic ischaemia; Colonic hypotension; Intra-abdominal pressure; rupture abdominal aortic aneurysm; Vascular surgery; Kärlkirurgi; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Colonic ischaemia (CI), Intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) are devastating complications after abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) surgery. The aims of this thesis were to study the incidence and clinical consequences of IAH/ACS and the association between CI and intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) among patients undergoing OR for ruptured AAA (rAAA), to compare extraluminal pHi monitoring, with standard intra-luminal monitoring among patients operated on for AAA, and to study the frequency and clinical consequences of IAH/ACS after endovascular repair (EVAR) for rAAA. 4. 19. Exploring Intestinal Ischemia : An experimental study

    Författare :Rolf Fröjse; Conny Arnerlöv; Ola Winsö; Stefan Lehtipalo; Eric Wahlberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; gastrointestinal tonometry; continuous; pig; pHi; intestinal ischemia; intestinal vascular bed; lactate; tissue oxygen tension; microdialysis; dopexamine; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Unrecognized intestinal mucosal ischemia in severely ill patients may trigger development of multiple organ failure. Such ischemia can be evaluated by intraluminal tonometry reflecting mucosal PCO2 and intramucosal pH (pHi). LÄS MER

  5. 20. Mechanisms of bacterial-epithelial interaction in Crohn’s disease

    Författare :Ida Schoultz; Johan D. Söderholm; Nicola Jones; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Crohn’s disease (CD) is believed to be initiated when an individual, who has agenetic predisposition either leading to a disturbance in the barrier functionand/or the innate immune system is exposed to triggering environmentalfactors, the most important being intraluminal bacteria. Genetic and functionalstudies have confirmed the Pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs), Nod2, TLR4and NALP3, as important mediators of the inflammatory process associatedwith disease progression.
