  1. 6. Protein tyrosine kinases and the regulation of signalling and adhesion in drosophila melanogaster

    Författare :Caroline Grabbe; Ruth Palmer; Tapio Heino; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; Signalling; Adhesion; Protein Tyrosine Kinase; Development; Endocytosis; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In order to build a multi-cellular organism and to regulate cellular functions, cells need to communicate with each other, as well as tightly regulate their behaviour in response to environmental changes. For these purposes all eukaryotic cells express a large number of membrane spanning receptors that either themselves contain catalytic activity or via cytoplasmic effector enzymes, function to transmit “signals” from the cell exterior to induce appropriate responses within the cell. 3. 8. Uptake signalling of PepFect 14

    Författare :Maxime Gestin; Ülo Langel; Amelie Eriksson Karlström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Cell-penetrating peptides are able to bind and carry various therapeutic agents including oligonucleotides into cells for a therapeutic effect. The aim of the cell-penetrating peptide research field is to produce a simple, safe and potent delivery platform for intracellular therapy and more especially for gene therapy. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Imaging of nucleocytoplasmic transcription factor dynamics in yeast

    Författare :Kristofer Bodvard; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transcription factor; single-cell; yeast; image analysis; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; light stress; Fluorescence microscopy; signalling;

    Sammanfattning : Fluorescence microscopy has proven to be an invaluable tool in identifying and understanding cell signalling, intracellular spatial and temporal dynamics, and cell-to-cell variability. This thesis focuses on imaging of nucleocytoplasmic transcription factor dynamics at the single cell level in yeast. LÄS MER

  5. 10. On Cholecystokinin and Phospholipase A2 in Insulin Secretion - an Experimental Study With Reference to the Development of Diabetes

    Författare :Erik Simonsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 2 Diabetes; Insulin Resistance; Islet; Beta-cell; Insulin Secretion; Ca2 -Dependency; Intracellular Signalling; Phospholipase A2; Cholecystokinin; Non-glucose Secretagogues; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Sammanfattning : In view of unsolved issues regarding cellular events underlying the adaptation of insulin secretion to insulin resistance, together with the observation that insulin secretion induced by the gastrointestinal hormone and neuropeptide cholecystokinin (CCK) is not solely explained by phospholipase C-protein kinase C (PLC-PKC) pathway activation, this study aimed at delineate mechanisms responsible for the hyperinsulinemia in insulin resistance, with particular attention paid to the action of glucose vs. non-glucose secretagogues, such as CCK.
