  1. 1. Exploring Intestinal Ischemia : An experimental study

    Författare :Rolf Fröjse; Conny Arnerlöv; Ola Winsö; Stefan Lehtipalo; Eric Wahlberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; gastrointestinal tonometry; continuous; pig; pHi; intestinal ischemia; intestinal vascular bed; lactate; tissue oxygen tension; microdialysis; dopexamine; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Unrecognized intestinal mucosal ischemia in severely ill patients may trigger development of multiple organ failure. Such ischemia can be evaluated by intraluminal tonometry reflecting mucosal PCO2 and intramucosal pH (pHi). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Membrane transport and the human small intestine : Relation to mucosal protection, intestinal anaphylaxis and nitric oxide

    Författare :Tina W. Knutson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; albumin; bicarbonate secretion; carbonic anhydrase; dopamine; duodenum; histamine; humans; hyaluronan; intestinal anaphylaxis; intestinal obstruction; jejunum; lidocaine; LOC-I-GUT; nitecapone; nitric oxide; potential difference; prostaglandins; segmental intestinal perfusion; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Sammanfattning : The tightly adherent monolayer of epithelial cells that line the luminal side of the intestine provides a dynamic and highly regulated barrier to the passive and active transport of ions, water and macromolecules. Cathecol-O-methyl transferase inhibition prevents tissue degradation of catecholaminesincluding dopamine and intracellular carbonic anhydrase activity is an important regulator of ion and water transport in the small intestine. 3. 3. The small intestine in experimental peritonitis : An experimental study focusing om intestinal energy metabolism, bacterial translocation and mucosal immunology

    Författare :Mikael Ljungdahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Bacterial translocation; endotoxin; faecal peritonitis; high-energy phosphates; hypoxia; intramucosal pH; IL-6; ischaemia; lactate; lymphocytes; mucosal injury; oxygendelivery; pigs; sepsis; tonometry; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : The gut is highly susceptible to injury during sepsis. An impaired mucosal barrier permitstranslocation of enteric microorganisms to blood or other organs. In a porcine model sepsiswas induced by faecal peritonitis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Benign and malignant gastric mucosal changes after partial gastrectomy

    Författare :Karl-Gunnar Janunger; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The development of benign and malignant mucosal changes in the gastric remnant were studied early (1-3 years) postoperatively in 55 patients and late (10-24 years) postoperatively in 336 of 676 patients subjected to partial gastrectomy for ulcer disease.Chronic gastritis with atrophy, intestinal metaplasia and cystic dilatation of the gastric glands was found early postoperatively with the same prevalence in gastric and duodenal ulcer patients. 5. 5. Acute Liver Injury and the Gut. Role of Nitric Oxide, and the Effect of Arginine and Probiotic Administration

    Författare :Diya Adawi; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Gastro-enterology; traumatologi; ortopedi; Kirurgi; Lactobacilli; Bacterial translocation; D-galactosamine; Intestinal mucosal changes; Luminal factors; Microflora; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Gastroenterologi;

    Sammanfattning : Infectious complications with enteric bacteria are common in liver diseases and liver surgery. An increased bacterial translocation from the gut has been proposed as one underlying mechanism. LÄS MER
