11. Dye/Semiconductor Interfaces : An Electron Spectroscopic Study of Systems for Solar Cell and Display Applications
Sammanfattning : The properties relevant for electron transfer processes between dye molecules and semiconductor substrates, titanium dioxide (TiO2) and zinc oxide (ZnO), have been studied by means of photoelectron spectroscopy, PES, near edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy, NEXAFS, and resonant photoemission, RPES.For dye-sensitized solar cells, the currently used dyes are ruthenium polypyridine complexes adsorbed to the semiconductor via carboxyl linker groups. 12. Strength and Stability of Interfaces in Cemented Carbides
Sammanfattning : Cemented carbides are hard composite materials of great technological importance. They are widely used as tool materials in a large variety of applications where the demands on hardness and toughness are high, including e.g.≈mining, turning, cutting, and milling. LÄS MER
13. The role of interfaces in oxide thin films
Sammanfattning : The role of interfaces in oxide thin films has been investigated from a microstructural point of view. Thin films of manganites and titanates have been investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). LÄS MER
14. Materials and interfaces for sustainable organic solar cells
Sammanfattning : Photovoltaics, the apparatus utilizing green solar power to generate electricity, is one of the efficient measures to the continuously increasing energy demand and exacerbated carbon emission of the human civilization. As a candidate with the potential of providing the cheapest and greenest form of electricity, organic solar cells (OSCs) received tremendous scientific interest, resulting in a significant power conversion efficiency (PCE) boosting to above 19% recently. 15. Atomistic modeling of interfaces in WC-Co cemented carbides
Sammanfattning : Grain and phase boundaries are crucial in understanding the properties of real materials. In this thesis, interfaces in WC–Co cemented carbide are modeled atomistically using density functional theory (DFT) and analytic interatomic potentials. LÄS MER
