Sammanfattning : With the recent progress in sensitive cell manipulation and microfabrication techniques, glycolytic oscillations in yeast have been observed at a single-cell level. It was shown that individually, oscillating cells could entrain their phases by periodic external perturbations. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : Glioblastoma is a most aggressive brain tumor with a median overall survival of less than two years. The current treatment is surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. However, glioblastoma is difficult to treat and recurs some time after treatment. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : NK cells are important players of innate immunity and capable of promoting specific responses of the adaptive immune system. NK cells possess the ability to recognise and eliminate virus-infected cells, tumour cells and allogeneic bone marrow grafts. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : Stroke is a major cause of death and adult disability in the western world. Most often, stroke is caused by the occlusion of a brain artery. Within the perfusion territory of the occluded vessel, various degrees of necrotic and delayed programmed cell death will occur if the occlusion persists, leading to expanding tissue damage. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), frontotemporal lobar dementia (FTLD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) are disorders characterized by the progressive deposition of proteinaceous inclusions throughout the brain in a predictable manner. Each disease is described by the involvement of different misfolded and aggregated proteins (AD, amyloid-β and tau; PD, α-synuclein; ALS and FTLD, TDP-43) that spread between anatomically connected brain regions, causing cell death in previously healthy regions.
