  1. 1. Towards Visual Literacy in School : Interactions between Students and Interactive Visualizations in Social Science Classrooms

    Författare :Ulrika Bodén; Linnéa Stenliden; Jörgen Nissen; Annika Lantz-Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Design-based research; Interactive visualizations; Knowledge visualizations; Multimodality; Social science education; Socio-materiality; Visual analytics; Visual literacy; Designbaserad forskning; Interaktiva visualiseringar; Kunskapsvisualiseringar; Samhällsorienterande undervisning; Socio-materialitet; Visuell litteracitet;

    Sammanfattning : This compilation thesis explores how the double aspect of visual literacy is enacted in secondary schools’ social science classrooms when interactive data visualizations are employed. The aim is to map what characterizes ‘reading’ interactive data visualizations and ‘writing’ knowledge visualizations, as well as implications for a didactic design supporting students’ visual literacy. 2. 2. Architecture and Applications of a Geovisual Analytics Framework

    Författare :Quan Ho; Mikael Jern; Gennady Andrienko; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; GeoVisual Analytics; toolkits; frameworks; web-enabled; visualization; interactive visualizations; interaction; interaction techniques; visual data analysis; component architecture; storytelling;

    Sammanfattning : The large and ever-increasing amounts of multi-dimensional, multivariate, multi-source, spatio-temporal data represent a major challenge for the future. The need to analyse and make decisions based on these data streams, often in time-critical situations, demands integrated, automatic and sophisticated interactive tools that aid the user to manage, process, visualize and interact with large data spaces. 3. 3. Travelling through time : Students’ interpretation of evolutionary time in dynamic visualizations

    Författare :Jörgen Stenlund; Lena Tibell; Konrad Schönborn; Niklas Gericke; Örebro universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Evolutionary knowledge is important to understand and address contemporary challenges such as loss of biodiversity, climate change and antibiotic resistance. An important aspect that is considered to be a threshold concept in teaching and learning about evolution is the time it involves. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Guided Interaction and Collaborative Exploration in Heterogeneous Network Visualizations

    Författare :Björn Zimmer; Andreas Kerren; Hans-Jörg Schulz; Linnéuniversitetet; []

    Sammanfattning : The visual exploration of large and complex network structures remains a challenge for many application fields, such as systems biology or social sciences. Often, various domain experts would like to work together to improve the analysis time or the quality of the analysis results. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Image analysis and interactive visualization techniques for electron microscopy tomograms

    Författare :Lennart Svensson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Images are an important data source in modern science and engineering. A continued challenge is to perform measurements on and extract useful information from the image data, i.e., to perform image analysis. LÄS MER
