6. Aspects of optimizing pulp fibre properties for tissue and packaging materials
Sammanfattning : To improve the competitive advantages of pulp fibre-based materials for tissue and packaging over fossil-based products, it is essential to increase knowledge of the selectivity of the cooking and the chemimechanical processes by optimizing the unit operations of impregnation, cooking and refining. A general goal in pulping processes is to achieve as efficient and even fibre separation as possible. LÄS MER
7. Cellulose Dissolution and Amphiphilicity : Insights on the Emulsion Formation and Stabilization
Sammanfattning : An amphiphilic polymer is expected to adsorb at the oil-water interface and be capable of stabilizing emulsions. Cellulose derivatives, cellulose nanoparticles and regenerated cellulose particles show an intrinsic amphiphilic character by self-assembling at oil-water interfaces and stabilizing emulsions without the aid of surfactants or any other co-stabilizers. 9. Utilization of cellulosic biomass towards sustainable chemicals and novel biomaterials
Sammanfattning : It is predicted by the United Nations that by year 2030 the world will need at least 50 percent more food, 45 percent more energy and 30 percent more water. The emissions of carbon dioxide from combustion of fossil fuels and waste are also increasing. LÄS MER
10. The initial phase of the sodium bisulfite pulping of softwood dissolving pulp
Sammanfattning : The sulfite pulping process is today practised in only a small number of pulp mills around the globe and the number of sulfite mills that use sodium as the base (cation) is less than five. However, due to the increasing interest in the wood based biorefinery concept, the benefits of sulfite pulping and especially the sodium based variety, has recently gained a lot of interest. LÄS MER
