    Sammanfattning : The High Luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), necessitates that the ATLAS experiment replace their current Inner Detector (ID) system. The new Inner Tracker (ITk) will be an all silicon detector, utilising both pixel and strip sensors, with the aim of performing as well, or better than the current system - but in a much more challenging environment.     Sammanfattning : This thesis contains two major topics related to the ATLAS experiment: the calibration of electronic noise in the tile calorimeter and the development of a detailed map of the material in the inner tracker used in searches for long-lived particles.The noise in TileCal is shown to be consistent with the expectations based on heat and radiation.
