  1. 11. Finite Element Simulations of Biphasic Articular Cartilages With Localized Metal Implants

    Författare :Krishnagoud Manda; Anders Eriksson; Ingrid Svensson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; finite element analysis; articular cartilage defects; knee joint; metal implant; poroelastic; biphasic; Other engineering mechanics; Övrig teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Articular cartilage is a specialized connective soft tissue that resides onthe ends of long-bones, transfers the load smoothly between the bones in diarthrodialjoints by providing almost frictionless, wear resistant sliding surfacesduring joint articulation. Focal chondral or osteochondral defects in articularcartilage are common and show limited capacity for biological repair. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Early Environment, Adolescent Alcohol Drinking and Neurobiological Responses to Drugs

    Författare :Sara Palm; Ingrid Nylander; Anne-Lie Svensson; Lundblad Martin; Giancarlo Colombo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adolescence; beta-endorphin; dopamine; dynorphin; endogenous opioids; enkephalin; high-speed chronoamperometry; housing conditions; maternal separation; multivariate concentric square field™ test; open field test; radioimmunoassay; voluntary alcohol intake; Wistar rats; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Genes and environment interact to determine an individual’s vulnerability or resilience to several psychiatric disorders, including alcohol use disorder (AUD). Alcohol use is often initiated during adolescence and early onset drinking is associated with increased risk for later AUD. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Dealing with damaged lysosomes : Impact of lysosomal membrane stability in health and disease

    Författare :Ida Eriksson; Karin Öllinger; Petra Wäster; Stig Linder; Daniel Wüstner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The lysosome is the main unit for degradation and plays important roles in various cellular processes, such as nutrient sensing, cholesterol regulation and cell death. Consequently, altered lysosomal function contributes to, or even causes, several diseases. LÄS MER
