  1. 1. Protein Prenylation in Higher Eukaryotes

    Författare :Ingela Parmryd; Patrick J Casey; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Protein prenylation is a post-translational process where proteins become covalently modified by an isoprenoid group. This modification adds hydrophobicity to the proteins. For all prenylated proteins identified to date, the prenyl group is an absolute requirement for their biological functions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Plasma membrane order; the role of cholesterol and links to actin filaments

    Författare :Jelena Dinic; Ingela Parmryd; Gerrit van Meer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Membrane Organization; Lipid rafts; Actin; Laurdan; di-4-ANEPPDHQ; Cholesterol; T cell signaling; Colocalization; Generalized Polarization; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The connection between T cell activation, plasma membrane order and actin filament dynamics was the main focus of this study. Laurdan and di-4-ANEPPDHQ, membrane order sensing probes, were shown to report only on lipid packing rather than being influenced by the presence of membrane-inserted peptides justifying their use in membrane order studies. 3. 3. Vγ9Vδ2 T cells - response to P. falciparum-derived phosphoantigens and potential for use in colon cancer immunotherapy

    Författare :Chenxiao Liu; Ingela Parmryd; Susanna Cardell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical Cell Biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Vγ9Vδ2 T cell is the dominant circulating γδ T cell subset in humans, can expand massively upon malaria infection and are cytotoxic to cancer cells. Vγ9Vδ2 T cells are stimulated by phosphoantigens, primarily isoprenoid pyrophosphates like isopentenyl pyrophosphate and (E)-4-hydroxy-3-methyl-but-2-enyl pyrophosphate (HMBPP). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Cholesterol in T cells : homeostasis, plasma membrane organization and signaling

    Författare :Saleemulla Mahammad; Ingela Parmryd; Thomas Harder; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasma membrane; T cells; Cholesterol; Lipid rafts; Membrane organization; Cholesterol homeostasis; cholesteryl esters; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The plasma membrane of eukaryotic cells contains cholesterol and glycosphingolipids enriched nanodomains known as lipid rafts; which are believed to exist in a liquid ordered (lo) state. Methyl-beta-cyclodextrin (MBCD) is used to deplete cellular cholesterol and a widespread assumption is that MBCD preferentially targets cholesterol in lipid rafts. LÄS MER
