1. Soft Intelligence : Liquids Matter in Compliant Microsystems
Sammanfattning : Soft matter, here, liquids and polymers, have adaptability to a surrounding geometry. They intrinsically have advantageous characteristics from a mechanical perspective, such as flowing and wetting on surrounding surfaces, giving compliant, conformal and deformable behavior. LÄS MER
2. Design Aspects of Inductive Power Transfer Systems for Electric Vehicle Charging
Sammanfattning : During the last decade the transition towards electric propelled vehicles has had an upswing and electric vehicle (EV) sales has increased steadily. This is much due to legislations on lowering emissions but also due to lower total cost of ownership. LÄS MER
3. Vertical High-Voltage Transistors on Thick Silicon-on-Insulator
Sammanfattning : More and more electronic products, like battery chargers and power supplies, as well as applications in telecommunications and automotive electronics are based on System-on-Chip solutions, where signal processing and power devices are integrated on the same chip. The integration of different functional units offers many advantages in terms of reliability, reduced power consumption, weight and space reduction, leading to products with better performance at a hopefully lower price. 4. Radio Frequency Systems for NMR Imaging: Coil Development and Studies of Non-Thermal Biological Effects
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns both design and optimization of NMR imaging systems and studies on non-thermal biological effects of electromagnetic fields. These two research fields are linked together by the fact that humans are subject to static and pulsed magnetic fields as well as to magnetic radio frequency fields (RF) during an NMR imaging investigation. 5. Ultrafast Photo-induced Reaction Dynamics of Small Molecules
Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis is the investigation of the dissociation dynamics of aryl halides using femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy. In the monohalogenated aryl halides, iodo-, bromo- and chlorobenzene, the rate of dissociation following excitation at 266 nm in the gas phase increased with increasing mass of the halogen atom.
