16. The interplay between Giardia intestinalis and host intestinal epithelial cells : A tale of immune activation and suppression
Sammanfattning : Giardia intestinalis is a non-invasive, protozoan parasite causing the diarrheal disease giardiasis in a variety of mammals, including humans. The parasite has two main life cycle stages; disease-causing trophozoites and infectious cysts. Trophozoites colonize the host’s upper small intestine by attaching to intestinal epithelial cells (IECs). G. LÄS MER
17. Plasticity Driven Damage and Void Growth
Sammanfattning : Plasticity induced damage evolution is considered using a thermodynamical approach. Different postulates on how to include the effects of damage in the constitutive equations have been studied. The results reveal that a mapping, similar to that of the stress, of both the kinematic and isotropic hardening variables is to be preferred. LÄS MER
18. Electrophysiology-based investigations of G protein-coupled receptor pharmacology
Sammanfattning : G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) constitute targets for ~34% of approved drugs. The muscarinic acetylcholine M2 receptor (M2R) activates G protein-coupled receptor inward rectifying potassium (GIRK) channels in the central nervous system and heart. Membrane potential modulates agonist potency at several GPCRs. LÄS MER
19. Integrative modeling of intratumoral heterogeneity, plasticity and regulation in nervous system cancers
Sammanfattning : The adult brain tumor glioblastoma (GBM) is characterized by short survival and a lack of efficient treatments. Median survival is 15 months from time of diagnosis and the 5-year survival rate is only 7 %. LÄS MER
20. Computational Studies of Structures and Binding Properties of Protein-Ligand Complexes
Sammanfattning : Proteins are dynamic structural entities that are involved in many biophysical processes through molecular interactions with their ligands. Protein-ligand interactions are of fundamental importance for computer-aided drug discovery. LÄS MER
