21. Regulating energy performance of residential buildings in cold climate : a study of indicators, criteria, and evaluation methods
Sammanfattning : Building energy performance has been important in Fennoscandia ever since the early vernacular houses, to combat the cold climate. Due to EU directive 2010/31/EU on the energy performance of buildings (EPBD recast), building energy performance has become even more relevant in northern Europe the last decade. LÄS MER
22. Latent Heat Thermal Energy Storage for Indoor Comfort Control
Sammanfattning : Equating Earth’s existence to 24 hours, we, the Homo sapiens, came about in the last four seconds. Fossil fuel came to our knowledge with mass extraction dating from the Industrial Revolution two centuries ago, in other words 4 milliseconds out of Earth’s 24-hour equivalent lifetime. LÄS MER
23. The indoor thermal climate in residential buildings after energy efficiency measures in a subarctic climate
Sammanfattning : There is ongoing work related to the energy efficiency of residential buildings in the subarctic regions in northern Sweden. The focus is often on the reduction of energy usage and the economic aspects for the property owners. With the introduction of new technology and changes to the existing building, the indoor thermal climate is affected. LÄS MER
24. The hygrothermal inertia of massive timber connstructions
Sammanfattning : The work presented in this Doctoral dissertation concerns the ability of heavy timber structures to passively reduce the fluctuations of the indoor temperature and of the indoor relative humidity, through the dynamic process of heat and moisture storage in wood. We make the hypothesis that the potential offered by the hygrothermal inertia of heavy timber structures is significant, and that it could provide a passive way of regulating the indoor climate.
