6. Heated air gaps : a possibility to dry out dampness from building constructions
Sammanfattning : The air gap method is a modification of the common way of building indoor walls and floors. The aim of the method is to make a construction, less fragile to water damage, with air gaps where moisture can be removed with a thermally driven air flow, caused by a heating cable. The thesis includes a number of experimental studies of this method. LÄS MER
7. Organophosphates and phthalates in air and dust from indoor environments : Method development and applied measurements
Sammanfattning : Organophosphate and phthalate esters are polymer additives that are frequently found in air and dust in indoor environments. This thesis describes the development and application of air sampling and selective mass spectrometric (MS) determination of these two compound groups. LÄS MER
8. Brominated flame retardants and perfluoroalkyl acids in Swedish indoor microenvironments : Implications for human exposure
Sammanfattning : Humans are exposed to persistent organic pollutants (POPs) such as brominated flame retardants (BFRs, specifically polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD)) and perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs, specifically perfluoroalkane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)). They are used in consumer products found in cars, offices, homes and day care centers. LÄS MER
9. Estimating children’s exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances
Sammanfattning : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are highly stable, surface active chemicals, which are water- and oil/stain-repellent. Because of their unique properties, PFASs are widely used in consumer products. LÄS MER
10. The indoor environment in schools : Respiratory effects and air quality
Sammanfattning : The main objective of this work was to investigate relationships between the schoolenvironment and asthma and asthmatic symptoms in schoolchildren. Data on symptoms werecollected through postal questionnaires answered by 1,732 pupils in 39 randomly selectedschools, and were related to data on exposures obtained through hygienic measurements in theschools.
