  2. 17. Indoor air quality and chemical emissions of organic compounds in newly built low-energy preschools

    Författare :Josefin Persson; Thanh Wang; Jessika Hagberg; Pim Leonards; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Indoor air quality; volatile organic compounds; brominated flame retardants; organophosphate flame retardants; low-energy preschools; environmental certification; indoor dust; surface wipes;

    Sammanfattning : In 2010, the European Union (EU) introduced the “Energy performance of Buildings” directive, which stipulates that all new buildings must reduce their energy consumption by constructing low-energy buildings. This could be achieved by constructing airtight and energy efficient envelopes with functional building materials such as age-resistant plastic films, insulation and different sealing products. 3. 18. Occurrence and fate of emerging and legacy flame retardants : from indoor environments to remote areas

    Författare :Seth Newton; Cynthia de Wit; Ulla Sellström; Matthew MacLeod; Roland Kallenborn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Flame retardant; emerging; legacy; polybrominated diphenyl ethers; PBDE; HBCDD; long range transport; dust; air; soil; atmospheric deposition; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are toxic chemicals that can be found in various matrices in all corners of the planet, including remote areas such as the Arctic.  Several POPs are known and monitored but given the abundance of new chemicals in commerce about which little is known, chemicals that may be new POPs are constantly being screened for. 4. 19. Oxidation of terpenes in indoor environments : A study of influencing factors

    Författare :Linda Pommer; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; Monoterpene; Ozone O3 ; Nitrogen dioxide NO2 ; Nitrogen oxide NO ; Relative humidity RH ; Modelling; Scrubber; Experimental design; Interaction; Volatile organic compounds VOC ; Sick buildings syndrome SBS ; Principal component analysis PCA ; Indoor air; Ventilation; Tenax TA; Sodium sulphite; Miljökemi; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the oxidation of monoterpenes by O3 and NO2 and factors that influenced the oxidation were studied. In the environment both ozone (O3) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are present as oxidising gases, which causes sampling artefacts when using Tenax TA as an adsorbent to sample organic compounds in the air. 5. 20. A Sociological Approach to Indoor Environment in Dwellings : Risk factors for Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) and Discomfort

    Författare :Karin Engvall; Dan Norbäck; Eva Sandstedt; Göran Strid; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Indoor environment; Questionnaire; Atopy; Building age; Indoor air quality; Sick building syndrome SBS ; Validation; Dwelling; Energy conservation; Mechanical ventilation; Building dampness; Building reconstruction; Wood heating; Electric heating; Heat pump; Thermal Insulation; Sealing; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; arbets- och miljömedicin; Occupational and Environmental Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The principal aim was to study selected aspects of indoor environment in dwellings and their association with symptoms compatible with the sick building syndrome (SBS). A validated questionnaire was developed specifically for residential indoor investigations, using sociological principles and test procedures. LÄS MER
