  1. 1. Influences, effects and changes from interventions by eco-labelling schemes - What a Swan can do?

    Författare :Åke Thidell; Internationella miljöinstitutet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Direct effect; Eco-labelling; Intervention theory; Environmental labelling; Nordic Swan; Measurement method; Indirect effect;

    Sammanfattning : Eco-labelling is a voluntary and informative policy instrument aiming at stimulating environmentally beneficial product development through using the market forces. The Nordic Swan eco-labelling scheme has been in operation since 1989. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Studies of Volcanic Influence on Aerosols, Clouds and Climate

    Författare :Johan Friberg; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lowermost stratosphere; volcanic aerosol; upper troposphere; sulfurous aerosol; carbonaceous aerosol; ion beam analysis; volcanism; indirect effect; radiative forcing; direct effect; Stratosphere; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Friberg;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the influence of volcanism on the compositions of the aerosols in the upper troposphere (UT) and lowermost stratosphere (LMS), and their direct and indirect impact on climate. Aerosol data were obtained by aircraft-borne sampling, using the CARIBIC (Civil Aircraft for the Regular Investigation of the Atmosphere Based on an Instrument Container) platform, and laboratory-based ion beam analysis of aerosol samples at the Lund Ion Beam Analysis Facility (LIBAF). 3. 3. Direct and indirect magnetocaloric properties of first- and second-order phase transition materials

    Författare :Sagar Ghorai; Peter Svedlindh; Martin Sahlberg; Gabriella Andersson; Ekkes Brück; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Magnetocaloric effect; Adiabatic temperature change; Direct measurement of magnetocaloric effect; Griffiths phase; Magneto-elastic transition; Magneto-structural transition; Second-order magnetic phase transition; First-order magnetic phase transition; Isothermal magnetic entropy change; Fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : The energy-efficient and environmentally friendly alternative cooling technology based on the magnetocaloric effect (MCE) is discussed in this thesis. The thesis has two major parts, one devoted to material characterization and the other to instrument development. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Trophic, Indirect, and Evolutionary Interactions in a Plant–Herbivore–Parasitoid System

    Författare :Johan Stenberg; Lars Ericson; John Parker; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plant resistance; coevolution; herbivory; Skeppsvik; food web; parasitism; maternal effect; natural selection; Filipendula ulmaria; Chrysomelidae; Terrestrial ecology; Terrestisk ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis project was to elucidate patterns and processes associated with the biotic interactions in a natural plant–herbivore–parasitoid food web characterized by spatial and temporal heterogeneity with regard to species composition. The system examined is based on island populations of the perennial herb Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria, Rosaceae), located in the Skeppsvik Archipelago. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Effects of Testing and Enactment on Memory

    Författare :Veit Kubik; Lars-Göran Nilsson; Fredrik Jönsson; Jonas Olofsson; Monika Knopf; Mihály Racsmány; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; testing effect; test-potentiated learning; enactment effect; cued recall; forgetting; episodic memory; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Learning occurs not only when we encode information but also when we test our memory for this information at a later time. In three empirical studies, I investigated the individual and combined effects of interleaved testing (via repeated rounds of study and test practice) and encoding (via motor enactment) during learning on later cued-recall performance for action phrases.
