  1. 6. Regulating energy performance of residential buildings in cold climate : a study of indicators, criteria, and evaluation methods

    Författare :Ingrid Allard Stolterman; Thomas Olofsson; Gireesh Nair; Folke Björk; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy performance; building simulation; cold climate; energy use; indicators; evaluation methods; building regulations; residential buildings; energy measurements; performance gap; energy signature; sustainable development; hållbar utveckling; fysik; Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Building energy performance has been important in Fennoscandia ever since the early vernacular houses, to combat the cold climate. Due to EU directive 2010/31/EU on the energy performance of buildings (EPBD recast), building energy performance has become even more relevant in northern Europe the last decade. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Agricultural nutrient budgets in Europe: data, methods, and indicators

    Författare :Rasmus Einarsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phosphorus; nutrient budget; EU; nutrient balance; nitrogen; Europe; indicators; environment; agriculture;

    Sammanfattning : Agricultural production systems feed humanity but also cause a range of adverse environmental effects, including climate change, loss of biodiversity, and pollution of air and water. A main cause of these effects is the emissions of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) that occur as a side effect of nutrient cycling in agriculture. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Long-term Environmental Problems, Economic Measures and Physical Indicators

    Författare :Christian Azar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stability analysis; discounting; environmental debt; sustainability; intergenerational; weight factors; population dynamics; the greenhouse effect; economics; indicators;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of five papers and an introduction dealing with various aspects of the use of environmental resources. In both Paper I, The marginal cost of CO2 emissions, and Paper II, Discounting and distributional considerations in the context of global warming, we analyse the economics of the greenhouse effect. 4. 9. Responsible resource management in hotels : attitudes, indicators, tools and strategies

    Författare :Paulina Bohdanowicz; Björn Palm; Ivo Martinac; Walter Jamieson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; hotels; energy and water management; energy and water conservation; environmental awareness; environmental reporting; performance indicators; consumption modelling; benchmarking; Mechanical energy engineering; Mekanisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Hotels constitute one of the main, and still expanding, pillars of the tourism sector and are highly unique among other commercial buildings. Resource intensive and frequently inefficient systems and operational routines applied in the sector, result in considerable environmental impact and indicate an urgent need for more environmentally sound practices and products in the hotel industry.
