1. In-situ Studies of Spontaneous Potential Oscillations during Electrochemical Deposition of Copper and Cuprous Oxide
Sammanfattning : Self-oscillating behaviour in alkaline Cu(II)-lactate and -tartrate systems has been investigated by in-situ pH and confocal Raman spectroscopy measurements. Formation of Cu(II)-lactate and -tartrate complexes is a key factor underlying the self-oscillations. LÄS MER
2. Sensitivity-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy and High-Speed Fluorescence for In Situ Gas-Phase Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : In this work, combustion and thermal decomposition processes were studied employing laser-based diagnostic techniques, and the techniques were improved and demonstrated to achieve enhanced detection sensitivity. Raman spectroscopy was employed to study flames under elevated and atmospheric pressures with various fuels, such as methane, hydrogen-enriched methane, DME, ethylene, and ammonia. LÄS MER
3. Quantified In Situ Analysis of Initial Atmospheric Corrosion : Surface heterogeneity, galvanic effects and corrosion product distribution on zinc, brass and Galvalume
Sammanfattning : The interaction of the surface of a pure metal or an alloy with the surrounding atmosphere occurs in a highly complex interfacial regime. During atmospheric corrosion this interfacial regime involves the metal surface, often covered by a naturally formed oxide layer of a few nanometers thickness; an aqueous adlayer, typically with a thickness of a few to a few tens of nanometers, and the atmosphere from which airborne particles, oxygen, and gaseous pollutants dissolve into the adlayer and influence the atmospheric corrosion process. 4. In-situ Investigations of Lithium-Sulfur Batteries
Sammanfattning : As the demand for high energy-density storage devices increases, we must look beyond the current state of the art technology, the lithium-ion battery. Lithium-ion battery technologies are approaching their theoretical limit in terms of capacity, and now that the demand for longer-range electric vehicles (EVs) and the implementation of grid storage is increasing, we need to provide technologies that can go beyond what is currently possible. 5. The Role of Interfacial Microstructure of Perovskite Thin FIlms - A High Resolution and In Situ Study
Sammanfattning : Perovskite based materials have recently shown to have many unique properties that make them suitable for future electronic devices. In this thesis, the role of the interfacial microstructure on the properties of perovskite thin film heterostructures has been investigated. LÄS MER
