1. Rational modifications of cell-penetrating peptides for drug delivery : Applications in tumor targeting and oligonucleotide delivery
Sammanfattning : High molecular weight biomolecules are becoming important in the development of new therapeutics. However, their size and nature creates a major limitation for their application – poor penetration through biological membranes. LÄS MER
2. Translational Tumor Drug Delivery : Doxorubicin formulation performance, intracellular uptake and molecular diffusion
Sammanfattning : Globally, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common form of liver cancer and a leading cause of cancer death. One important risk factor is liver cirrhosis and the disease progression is characterized by deposition of extracellular matrix proteins that form a fibrous network, which increases liver stiffness and may limit the effectiveness of different treatment strategies. 3. Perinatal Complications: Associations with Postpartum depressive symptoms and Neuroticism
Sammanfattning : Even though most pregnancies and deliveries are uncomplicated, still fifteen percent of all women in developed countries suffer pregnancy-related complications. The aim of this thesis was to explore the associations between perinatal complications and perinatal maternal health, with emphasis on postpartum depressive symptoms (PPDS) and neuroticism taking into account potential confounding or mediating factors such as history of depression, antenatal depressive symptoms and delivery experience. 4. Rational and combinatorial protein engineering for vaccine delivery and drug targeting
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes recombinant proteins that have been generated by rational and combinatorial protein engineering strategies for use in subunit vaccine delivery and tumor targeting. In a first series of studies, recombinant methods for incorporating immunogens into an adjuvant formulation, e.g. LÄS MER
5. Lipid-based liquid crystals as drug delivery vehicles for antimicrobial peptides
Sammanfattning : The development of antimicrobial resistance is a great challenge within health sectors worldwide. Thus, demand for new, efficient treatments is urgent in order to treat various bacterial infections. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are a group of antibiotics that have gained more and more attraction in the past decade. LÄS MER
