  1. 16. Targeting stromal components in the tumor microenvironment for cancer therapy

    Författare :Jieyu Wu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In the tumor microenvironment (TME), different cell components crosstalk with each other through various growth factors, cytokines, chemokines, and enzymes. They offered crucial survival signals for tumor cell proliferation and metastasis. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Epigenetic Regulation and Reprogramming of the H19 Imprinting Control Region

    Författare :Piero Mariano; Rolf Ohlsson; Karl Ekwall; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Imprinting; chromatin; H19; Igf2; CTCF; Insulator; methylation; Boris; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The development of a new individual from the fertilized oocyte can ultimately be seen as the consequence of the establishment and maintenance of specific patterns of gene expression. Although regulation of gene activity occurs at different levels, cellular specialization and differentiation are the results of developmental cues that essentially take place at the transcriptional level. 3. 18. Deciphering cell motility and spatial sensing of intestinal cell types using an ex vivo intestinal model

    Författare :Anna Webb; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The intestine is a highly organized tissue with two distinct regions: the crypt and the villus. When stem cells divide at the crypt bottom, half of their progeny migrates upwards towards the villus, where they differentiate into various cell types, including the abundant absorptive enterocytes. 4. 19. Implementing new genomic tools to study ventral midbrain development and injury response in the newt Pleurodeles waltl

    Författare :Zeyu Yao; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Mammals have a poor ability to regenerate organs or tissues. In particular, brain neurons do not regenerate after damage. A good example of this limitation is the irreversible degeneration of midbrain dopaminergic neurons in Parkinson’s disease (PD). Several strategies are being developed to treat PD. LÄS MER

  5. 20. 24s-Hydroxycholesterol : studies on regulatory mechanisms behind its formation in the brain and its potential use as a marker for neurodegeneration

    Författare :Marjan Shafaati; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cholesterol 24-hydroxylase (CYP46A1) belongs to the cytochrome P450 super family and is responsible for conversion of cholesterol to the oxysterol 24S- hydroxycholesterol (24S-OHC). This structural modification allows 24S-OHC to traverse the blood brain barrier and this pathway is the major one for elimination of cholesterol from the mammalian brain. LÄS MER
