  1. 6. Immunological mechanisms involved in seasonal pollen allergy and allergen-specific immunotherapy

    Författare :Robert Movérare; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; Allergy; birch pollen; IFN-g; IgE; IgG; IgG4; IL-4; IL-5; IL-10; IL-13; immunotherapy; PBMC; rush immunotherapy; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Th1/Th2-like T-cell responses were studied by stimulating peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) with allergens or antigens followed by restimulation with mitogens to induce high cytokine synthesis. Allergen-stimulation in vitro induced Th2-skewed cytokine synthesis by PBMCs from birch-pollen-allergic patients. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Immunotherapy and immunosuppression in myeloid leukemia

    Författare :Alexander Hallner; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Natural killer cells; acute myeloid leukemia; histamine dihydrochloride; immunotherapy; reactive oxygen species; chronic myelomonocytic leukemia; NK cell education; NKG2A; HLA; KIR;

    Sammanfattning : Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) are potentially life-threatening blood cancers characterized by the expansion of malignant myeloid cells in bone marrow and other organs. This thesis aimed at contributing to the understanding of the role of natural killer (NK) cells in AML and CMML with focus on the potential impact of the immunosuppression exerted by reactive oxygen species (ROS) formed by the myeloid cell NOX2 enzyme. 3. 8. Towards Immunotherapy of Midgut Carcinoid Tumors

    Författare :Sofia Vikman; Thomas Tötterman; Valeria Giandomenico; Bengt Widegren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Immunology; midgut carcinoid; gene expression; immunotherapy; tumor antigen; VMAT-1; T cell; HLA-A*0201-binding peptide; IFNγ; regulatory T cell; Immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Classical midgut carcinoids belong to neuroendocrine tumors of the gastroenteropancreatic tract (GEP-NETs) and are associated with serotonin overproduction. The term midgut is derived from the tumors’ embryological site of origin: enterochromaffin cells in the lower jejunum, ileum, caecum and the ascending colon. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Nitric Oxide Regulation during Anti-tumor Immunotherapy

    Författare :Wiaam Badn; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Immunologi; serology; Immunology; Medicin människa och djur ; immunotherapy; Medicine human and vertebrates ; immunosuppression; PGE2; Nitric oxide; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : During tumor progression a strong immunosuppression is developed and is believed to be the major reason why immunotherapy fails. This suppression is induced in response to factors produced from tumor cells, but can also be induced after immunotherapy. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Experimental brain tumors, dendritic cells and immunotherapy

    Författare :Shorena Janelidze; Neurokirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dendritic cell; interferon-γ; immunotherapy; Brain tumor;

    Sammanfattning : Malignant astrocytomas are the most common primary tumors of the adult central nervous system. Surgical resection of tumor mass in combination with radiotherapy and chemotherapy is only palliative and there is a clear need for new and more effective therapeutic strategies. LÄS MER
