  1. 1. Mutation and immune profiling of non-small cell lung cancer

    Författare :Linnéa La Fleur; Johan Botling; Fernando López-Ríos; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Non-small cell lung cancer; Tumor microenvironment; Tumor-associated macrophages; Immune infiltrates; PD-L1; Mutation patterns; Immune therapy; MARCO; TP53; STK11; KRAS;

    Sammanfattning : Several novel therapies that target molecular alterations and immune checkpoints in lung cancer have been introduced in the last decade. Still, only a minority of patients obtain long term disease control and overall survival remains poor. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Mast cells: bad enemies or good friends? : A study of the effects of IgG immune complexes on mast cell biology

    Författare :Lisa M Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mast cell; Fc receptor; Apoptosis; Immune complex; Adjuvant; CTA1-DD.;

    Sammanfattning : Mast cells are classically defined as bad enemies to human health due to their critical involvement in IgE-dependent allergy by virtue of the expression of the high affinity IgE receptor, FcgammaRI, on these cells. However, mouse mast cells also express FcgammaRIIB and FcgammaRIIIA, two receptors that bind IgG especially in the form of IgG immune complexes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Intercellular protein transfer and regulation of inhibitory NK receptor accessibility

    Författare :Katja Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : NK cells are important players of innate immunity and capable of promoting specific responses of the adaptive immune system. NK cells possess the ability to recognise and eliminate virus-infected cells, tumour cells and allogeneic bone marrow grafts. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Immunogenetic markers in immune mediated diseases

    Författare :Liene Nikitina-Zake; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; HLA; MICA; TNFA; TNFa; KIR; CIN; cervical cancer; juvenile arthritis; MCTD; type I diabetes mellitus;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study HLA class II markers, as well as other - MHC and non MHC genes in different immune - mediated diseases, namely, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), cervical cancer, juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) and type I diabetes mellitus (T1 DM). HLA class II genes are located on the short arm of chromosome 6 and are known to be important for pathogenesis of immune - mediated diseases due to the function of the molecules these genes encode. 5. 5. Regulation of calcium flux by activating and inhibitory receptor crosstalk in NK cells

    Författare :Sridharan Ganesan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : The birth of a new born child kicks off the immune system to be on call and to respond promptly to threats from the environment. Natural Killer cells, classified as a member of the innate lymphoid cell family, express various activating, inhibitory, adhesion and cytokine receptors as well as MHC class I molecules on their surfaces, by which they interact with surrounding cells and perform various immunological function.
